Default The Continued Search for Slotted Rotors

Happy New Years to all.
I know there have been many threads discussing the topic of Slotted Rotors. Has anyone had any experience with this company that has started advertising in Excellence? The company is Giro Disc and their website is http://www.girodisc.com/
The ad in Excellence states they have slotted rotors that fit a 996 even though the website "catalog" is still under construction and shows no products available. I believe if they have a 996 size that will also fit my Boxster S.
Any thoughts on this company would be appreciated.

I have not heard of this company, but I bought my last set of rotors from Protosport at the time i paid like 700 a set for the fronts. I just received a message on my voice mail about a week ago from someone stating that they just lowered the price to 575.00. That was for the 997-3 rotor and I am not sure if it is the same, but I would have to think that mine is more expensive. Paul at Protosport (973 839 5353)

You might check with RSS (Road Sport Supply) - They recently offered a Giro rotor upgrade package for the 987 (see here), so they may also carry 986 parts as well.

Keep in mind I am looking for Boxster S / 996 C2 brake sizes. The two post that reference 6&7 3's don't matter. There are plenty of slotted vendors out there for GT3's

What's your price range? You can get PFC Direct Drives for the baller setup or DBA has a 4000 series slotted rotor for that setup too.

PFC should retail around $700/pair
DBA4000s should retail around $650/pair
You can also get generic slotted/XD ones for like $400/pair.

There should be Rennlist vendors that carry these, if not, you can PM me and Ill give you info.

Hey;

I have always slotted my own rotors. It is not hard if you have a mill. It is also not that hard to find someone who does if you don't.

Giro Disc is pretty well thought of by the folks on Ferrarichat.com. No direct experience with them myself other than buying their caliper spreading tool, which is pretty amazing, and expensive, but worth it.

Thanks to all I am looking into the DBA option. I have asked them to confirm if they make the two piece rotor (series 5000) for the 996/box S. It is amazing to learn that they make the series 5000 for the base boxster 2.7 but it looks like they don't for the Boxster S / 996 brakes!

Correct, they dont make 5000 series or rears.

For the cost of 5000 series (if they did make them), it would be much ore worthwhile to just get the PFC Direct Drives. Those are TRUE floating hats, not just two pieces bolted together.

I am a big fan of the slotted rotors made by DeMan Motorsports. Great rotors, very good service and Emma and Rick went the extra mile for me.

I have Big Reds (322 x 32) and would like an alternative to OEMs (cracking) and AP ($$$)- anyone else weigh in on DBA or DeMan for this application?

Ritter,
So far only DBA has a option for the 996/Boxster S. DeMan does not due to the issues described earlier (above).
The search continues....

I thought I saw an ad in Panorama for CDOC showing DBA's for 993 TT (ie Big Reds). I'll give them a call and find out.
