Default Track Fun

I'm in a very fortunate position.

I get plenty seat time behind the wheel of lots of different track and race cars. It's something I've always wanted to share, but every time i get the urge to post something here I've decided against it, for some reason or the other. Maybe it's because i think people will think I'm trying to brag, or something. I'm not. So, would you guys mind if I posted stuff here about the cars I get to test and whatnot. Photos and stories, I'll keep it all in this thread and run it like a blog.

Yes?

Pierre, I'm the same way about being hesitant...I went through a period of barraging everyone with my track schedule and felt weird about it.

but- I want to know what the hell that thing is and how it drove! it looks awesome!

how cool does all that intake/cooling plumbing sound at speed?

it's something i drove today. local creation, small lightweight jobby. Like a Radical, stroked 1450cc Hyabusa engine, chain driven with the rear sprocket coupled to a quaiffe diff. 220hp, fun car to drive...

We can take it, post away. Anyone that doesn't like it doesn't have to log on.
Make sure we know what circuits you're at, too.

Okay.

I'm 48 now, an 'old tappet' so to speak. I started racing on superbikes and did that for eight years or so, but I wasn't any good at it mainly because i started too late in life. I'm better on four wheels. A buddy of mine, Mario, builds and preps race Porsches and I do most of his testing for him. Been doing that for the longest time. We work well together in that respect, I know what to tell him, he knows what adjustments to make to the car. Other than that, I've done a few seasons in 250 Superkarts. I call them 'modified shopping trolleys'. The first time I drove one I realized that I actually sucked at driving even though I thought I was good. It became an obsession and I stuck with supekarts untill I could drive them well. You learn a lot from these things.

In the beginning of this year a mate of mine started a local motorsport magazine and asked me to do track testing for him and write about it for the mag. For some reason people seem to like what I write, so that's where the track tests come from. I don't get paid for it though, I just do it for the hell of it and to pick up experience. It helps a lot. You learn how to put two and two together very quickly on a race track if you get to drive different cars. I've also got a 928 that I've turned into a race car and started racing it this year. Been fairly successful, but the car needs more power and development.

So there you have it, my resume. He-he.

Cheers,
Pierre.

pierre- thought I was right!

you are definitely correct about different cars helping the development...I've only driven 10 or 12 different cars...can't wait to drive another 20 or so
