Been on empty for a week... still no gas today, or REALLY long lines for stations that do. Hope this is fixed soon...

I'm 25 mins door to door to RA and will be there Weds-Sat.
Whats the deal with Porscheplatz this year- first come/first serve?
p.s. I waited for what seemed like an eternity for gas today but in fact it was about 15 mins. The cars were about 5-6 deep for each nozzle. This was in Buckhead. No regular but 89 and 93 was available. Crazy times we live in.

I can't find a link on the web to buy Platz tickets, but this is what the PCA website has listed as info:
Porscheplatz at the Road Atlanta Petit Le Mans 7/29/2008 3:55:32 PM
On Friday October 3 and Saturday October 4, the American Le Mans Series race, the 2008 Petit Le Mans will at Road Atlanta. As in previous years there will be a Porscheplatz tent and Porsche only parking corral. This Porsche owner opportunity provides experiences not possible with normal road race attendance. Activities for the registered Porscheplatz participant include personalized “Meet & Greet” with Porsche race drivers and race team personalities and special presentations by factory VIP’s. In addition IMSA offers supervised Parade Laps of the track to the first 100 registered Porsches. Registration for Parade Laps will be at the hospitality tent for credentialed Porscheplatz participants only. Other special features include a “Long Distance Award”, raffle drawings for a “Hot Pit” escorted tour, special Porsche related prizes, and the opportunity to watch all the track action on a large screen closed circuit television.
The Porscheplatz is sponsored by Porsche AG and Porsche Cars North America with the cooperation of the International Motorsports Association (IMSA) and the American Le Mans Series. The Porscheplatz is managed by Porsche Club of America volunteers but all Porsche owners are welcome.
Porscheplatz tickets are available at roadatlanta.com or call 800-849-7223. Be sure to specify tickets for the Porscheplatz corral! Additional information can be obtained by contacting Alan ***, 865-577-7936 or allancox@aol.com and the IMSA website, imsaracing.net. Alan also has Porscheplatz order forms. For additional information on the American Le Mans Series, its history, use of alternative fuels, and other innovations go to www.americanlemans.com
Here's the schedule of the event the PorschePlatz included. I've heard the parade laps fill up early. I'll be working the tent Friday and Saturday. Hopefully my 114K mile 90 C2 makes it down without a problem.

According to a poster on another Forum, the Italian magazine Autosprint is reporting news about the return of Porsche to the LMP1 class with a new prototype based (this is just a supposition) on the RS Spyder. According to the article, this news is for sure, and that Weissach are working on the future engine: petrol V8 DFI. The car would be launched in 2011, to compete in 24 Hours of Le Mans, ALMS and LMS. The car will be an open top car, the same as the RS Spyder.
N.B. I have NOT read the article, so if anyone can get their hands on a copy, I would much appreciate the confirmation of this news.

Hope they can get it fixed for the race.
It's also unknown if the team has all of the necessary spare parts to repair the car after the heavy toll their spares inventory took two weeks ago in Silverstone.
