Ouch, glad to hear he's okay! What their status look like for the race? Could end up making the championship hunt a bit more exciting (not to sound callous).

Dumb question and not meant to be insensitive to Scott's health, but if he WANTED to race this weekend and was cleared, do they have a backup car(s) at the track like the NASCAR, F1, etc, guys typical do?

That must have just posted as I was on the GA website not 5 minute ago.
So the GA website stories says they ARE racing (hence my question in my previous post) but the Speedtv article said they have pulled out of the event. WTF?
Grand Am article:
Several crew members are flying to the team's shop in Indianapolis to work on the car while the team's transporter returns. Once it arrives, the spare car will be loaded on the hauler, which will return to the New Jersey circuit, where they hope to arrive before final practice at 8 a.m.
Speedtv:
The car was totally destroyed, and the TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates squad has withdrawn from the event

2:33 p.m. Update - MILLVILLE – New Jersey Motorsports Park’s Thunderbolt Raceway was closed for racing Thursday after Grand-Am Rolex sports car series leader Scott Pruett was involved in a violent afternoon wreck during testing.
According to Nick Nield, a crew member for the No. 60 car who witnessed the crash, an unidentified Grand Touring car slowed down in front of Pruett’s Daytona Prototype car as it approached a straightaway next to pit road, causing Pruett to swerve.
But Pruett’s car, which he said Wednesday could reach speeds of up to 170 mph on the track, was going so fast that it split into at least two pieces.
Pruett was taken to South Jersey Heatlhcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland where he was evaluated and released.
He and co-driver Memo Rojas, who currently lead the series standings, will not race in the Supercar Life 250 on Sunday, according to a team spokesman.

That section of the track was identified as an ara of concern with Shattenbaum's DE a couple of weeks ago. There had been a couple of significant wrecks a few days earlier at pit in and the track had made some adjustments, widening that section a bit.
Sorry to hear someone else had a wreck and hopefull they get back on track for the race.
