i thought i read some people comparing an E car with a stock 996. My point was that Paolo's car is not an E car.

I can speak with some authority on this subject having driven a good amount of bone stock cars on a few different tracks. The answer become obvious when we have all the variables. If we were talking Daytona this tread would be over.

The real answer is depending on driver talent which car is faster. A new driver will be much faster in the 996 as well as a pro driver would also be able to make the 996 faster. Most of us would find the 3.2 a faster car for a de session. A stock Porsche (showroom stock) pushes badly, overheats the breaks, and moves you around too much for precise control. As a side note proper race seats and harnesses are worth 1-2 seconds on a large track

It was an E car until the new designations, now it would be classed in F..

Paolo, If you can get the wheel straight at exit and stop correcting, you will drop at least 3 secs at the Glen. After riding with you, that was your biggest issue.

OK, 3 secs. saved with your suggestion, 1-2 secs by switching to R6s..... we are at 4-5 secs. shaved off.....

Not a bad start.......

If we're talking a completely stock 996, then I would say no way. I did get a 996 to drive the kids around but nothing wrong in making it more track friendly

Once you take the time to define your definitions and make your assumptions, of course there is no problem. My point was that the original question, as stated, allowed for every person to make his own definitions and assumptions. That is what makes these kinds of questions somewhere between entertaining and useless.

I'm not debating your conclusions....once one accepts your definition of the question and surrounding assumptions.

What are you pulling here??? Who says you are allowed to actually stick to the original question????
