Default Drenth Gearboxes

Anyone here heard of them or used them? They have differentials and a sequential conversion for 915's.

I emailed them for more info on a 915 kit. I'll post whatever info comes back.

How well is the "fragile" 915 going to hold up to that? Wonder what internals need to be changed?

I am thinking if I can take my "blind man searching for dropped change" approach to shifting out of the equation, my 915 should last a lot longer.

I use a Wevo, am pretty careful, and I still seem to eat a 915's syncros every year or so. I would think a sequential would speed up the shifting even more, which does not equate with 915 longevity..

Probably right. I am wondering if the sequential just makes hitting the right gear easier or if it speeds the shift too. I would be happy if it just helped with gear selection. The speed of the shift is less important to me (to a point obviously). Having never driven a sequential, I have no idea. it just sounds like something I need.

Hello John,

Thank you for your request! We are sorry to inform you that we
have not available the sequential unit for the Porsche 915 gearbox.

The sequential mentioned at our site is for Auto cross only, this in
combination with our gearsets. These sets and units are not
longer available. We are sorry for the inconvenience!

Kind regards,
Mit freundlichem Gruß,
Met vriendelijke groet,

That response from Drenth doesn't really make a lot of sense. AutoX only?

I guess either way, they don't have what we want ...

Have you guys looked into having WEVO convert your 915 into a "Dog-ring" tranny.
It would not be sequential, but a synchro-less tranny. Very fast shifting and very reliable.

Cory,

Holinger in Australia makes a sequential conversion for 996 GT3/GT2 cable shift trans.

Due to the poor exchange rate it is now $24K I believe for the parts....

They advertise good to 650 ft/lbs torque...

Here is the link...
