I saw that, but the commentary on TV said that it was the contact in pitlane that caused the penalty and did not mention the red flag.

There was some talk (on here?) about changing P2 to merge with GT1. That would be cool, Corvette versus Porsche Spyder

They should let the JapanGT guys run in GT1, and loose the P2. Then, you would have recognizable body styles, (wolves in sheep clothing) with inboard suspension, 700hp, and tubed framed, lighting fast cars with BIG HP. A car from japan, not even near JGT performance level, showed up to a Time trial, not even of the JGT catagory, and beat Sofro's WCGT GT3 porsche by 5 seconds a lap. Thats a little faster than GT2 and a little slower than GT1. supras, NSX's, etc etc. Now that would be entertaining. In fact, let the P1s run with the formula or Indy cars and spice up those races, while leaving the sports car racing to cars that look like sportscars.

Bell Motorsports not at Mid-Ohio due to Lime Rock Crash

The GT1 team has not used many Aston Martin Racing parts and have instead built their own. They are on the entry list for the four-hour race at Road America next month.

M758, I'm with you, I think that was staged
but what about cellulosic ethanol? Why sit in a box like NASCAR?

That would never work. An aero car like in P2 would kill a sport touring car. A RWD 911TT with a little aero body work and now we're back into the glory days of IMSA.

Corvette wouldn't run and hide from a Dodge factory Viper or Aston Martin team, but they would from 4 or 5 911TT teams.

GT1 could be a great class if some US teams would pick up a few cars. The FIA GT series has some awesome races. Corvettes, Astons, Maseratis, Ferrari, and some old gunned Saleens. If half that field was in the US GT1 would be awesome, but someone has to commit first.

Prototype cars ARE sports cars...actually the BEST sports cars IMO. A car doesn't need to be a tin-top car based on a Production street car to be a sports car. Some of the greatest sports cars of all time are from the Prototype category rather than the Production category. If anyone, a Porsche fan should know that. Does the 917 ring a bell? 956/962? Can-Am racing? IMSA GTP? Prototype cars have been some of the greatest sports cars in racing history.

You're confusing "sportscars" with street cars.
