Hmmm. On mine, one brown wire has male end, the other a female end. For the green wire, one has a male end, the other a female end. Unless one of my friends came in and switched the ends as a joke, there is just no way it can be connected the wrong way.

We'll see what Schaeffer says since the entire thing is being shipped over there at this moment.

Thanks for your input!

It never hurts to double check.

Mike, can you give us some detail around this? You simply put the hot wire to the brown where it was to the green before?

My cool suit has two wires...a brown one and a black one. The brown one is to be 12v. If in doubt about what wire is 12v just check with Shaffer. They were very helpful with me. I got a call the next day after I e-mailed them. Reversing the polarity won't hurt the motor but the flow is about 25% of normal.

did the water flow in the opposite direction when you changed polarity? That should make the pump spin backwards and would explain the 25% flow.

Well, I just got back from Lightning and my system did what it always does. It works perfectly for 5 minutes, then loses suctions and stops pumping. It actually worked for the very 1st run session but stopped every session after that. If I disconnected the lines from my shirt, hooked the drain in and sucked on the line it would start pumping immediately....

Thanks, Gary.

I should also mention that I cut my brown and green wires to different lengths, meaning that, in addition to the male/female connectors, the wires are impossible to connect incorrectly. I specifically cut them to different lengths to avoid any possibilty of reversing the polarity.

I'm going the ceramic pump route, not worth my time and effort to ship it, bring it to a race, and have it do the same old crap..

Ceramic?? Linkseses? Costseses?

What a shame you have to go this route. I hate high maintenance products since I just don't have the time to deal with fixing things that should not be breaking down in the first place.

Well, part of it is ceramic. I intend on calling them tomorrow to discuss the suitability of the pump I picked out - http://www.pumpbiz.com/products/inde...&series_id=406

and as you will see, it's not inexpensive. I could care less, I just want to hit the switch and never have to wonder if the damn thing will work or not!

It's sad. We have Sean and you with the "trickle" flow, mine pumps great and flows fine but loses prime somehow (My cooler is FULL of water), Joel butchered up his cool shirt because he figured he was pinching a line (you can pinch several and it will still circulate, I tested it), it's all just dumb. The cooler is nice, the shirt is nice, so why use a POS pump that is OBVIOUSLY not up to the task? I cry uncle, I will make it work and take the hit..

This is what I was going to ask. I had the same problem the first few times I went out with mine. Lost prime in the first 5 mins. Later, I filled it to the top with ice and water. Hasn't done it since, though I have used it very little this summer.

Good luck guys. Keep us posted. I want to know the 'REAL' fix if this happens again.

Gary: Maybe Shaffer will replace the cooler/pump assembly at a favorable cost or no cost (I don't know how old your unit is). BTW my pump is an Atwood V500 which is a 500 gpm pump. Bilg pumps are usually very reliable.

Ok, just did a search and it's the Attwood Sahara - http://www.shipstore.com/SS/HTML/ATT/ATT45057.html
500 gallons per HOUR - 8.33 GPM... does it ever lose prime? Price is fine.
