Greg,

I like the agricultural part of your excursion. Real Texas boy right?

The Dutch are much cleaner when they screw up.

No doubt. I was already aimed down into 15 when I realized I didn't leave enough braking room for the speed I was carrying, so continuing along the oval wasn't an option for me. Fortunately, the grass was dry and smooth. Then I got onto the apron of the oval and started thinking "now WHERE are we supposed to re-enter the track???".

I went a slightly different route. I took the short cut to the right that leads to the entrance of carousel at T11 (you can see it on the right in your video). It enters the track next to the the T10 flagstation and you have good visibility of cars coming out of T12 towards T11.

Speaking of turn 15, Mike asked to me post these rules I put together after this past weekend:

Driving Rule #147 for the terminally stupid:
Don't try a different line into 15 (clockwise at TWS) before your tires and/or brain are up to operating temperature.

Rule #148
If you ignore Rule #147, don't assume it will be just another drive through the grass as you have done many times before.

Rule #149
If you ignore Rules #147 and #148, try to avoid the grating and the deep hole in which it lies.

Rule #150
If you choose to ignore Rules 147-149, do not pull your car into the garage, go immediately to park over the sand in the trailer parking so the remainder of your coolant will be more easily absorbed.

The car isn't too bad. I think I just have swap out the left side radiator and mounting bracket. The trunk floor got pushed up a little, but hey - I have 2 trunks anyway.

I really wasn't too worried about it until I saw that grating and hole. By then it was too late. I should have kept my eyes down rather than up.

No worries. Some day I'll learn to drive and these things won't happen to me anymore.

It's this level of instruction that makes TWS events truly the best there are.

Glad you came out of it ok Ken!

Now about the placement of the engine in your car...
