Hawk HT-10 vrs Pagid RS-14
I've done the search and read numerous posts, however, for a Cayman 2.7, which pad would be the best choice. Pagid yellow are not available, I haven't read to much good about Oranges. I've rejected Hawk Blues.

Yes they are, but from experience I would say that the Hawks are going to be kinder to your rotors, and they operate in a little lower heat range and so are probably a better DE pad. For racing I would run the RS-14s.

HT-10 is an old compound and the newer Hawk DTC 60's and 70's are supposedly vastly superior...Why not try them instead of the HT's? I hear they are very good.

I have not found the any of the new DTC pads to be "vastly superior" to the well known HT-10s. My Master Distributor for Hawk tells me that some of the teams he supplies like the DTCs a little better, while others find them similar to HT-10s. Hawk needed to hype a "new" pad. Both are excellent pads, but you pay more for the "new" DTCs.

They were the same price plus or minus like $5-10 for me iirc. I found they lasted longer and I liked the way they released more - I normally use Ferodo DS3000s for DEs but the HT10s had a ton more bit / felt more aggressive overall... the DTCs seem to have that same 'bite' but with a more controllable release - could also just be me learning more though as I hadn't run HT10s in a while. I've got a semi-used set in my spares box, tell you what, I'll put them on today and run half an hour (DS3000s on the car, will have to bed them in) and then give some more feedback if you'd like...
Overall I like them both though - I did have an issue with the HT10s delaminating once - but I think it was that I was STUPID and drove them on the street for 2-3 days and / or could have been over-heating, we were hot-lapping the car almost 4 hours (strange part was they still had significant thickness left ... one side just cracked into a bunch of pieces and flew off)

great question. I have a BMW race buddy that has been running the hawks with good results. says they are as good as the pagid oranges. (but cheaper) is this true? also , what about the other hawk version, called the HT12 or HT14 or something. This also begs the question, what is the pagid black like? heard they are better and harder on rotors, but mine are wasted anyway mid season.

I have to agree. A good friend, who is a very good driver, has used both. The DTC70's stop better, last longer, are easier on rotors, and warm up MUCH more quickly than the HT10's he used to use.
