Mark,

I picked up 2 of the motorsport Hero cameras this week to stick on my SRF. I'm going to put one on the front of the car and one on the back (this is in addition to my regular DV camera for in cockpit coverage).

The best thing is that vimeo.com keeps the picture very very very close to the original vs ggogle ot youtube so this is what kind of video it really takes for $150. Not bad and it's HD. No skipping.
FWIW - The Aiptek HD unit is on sale for $130 at Best Buy. At that price it's worth giving a try. I am going to get a bullet cam with remote mic to go with it.

Well, at least the camera survived the ordeal! That is not a terrible place to go off, at leas the speeds are very low through there! I don't think I ever spun or went off there. Bad form for instructors to do that!

Hope it was just a bent ego and no car parts suffered!

Best,
James

Has anyone seen a reasonable solution for a 12 hour endurance race? We'll need to stop every two hours or so for fuel and will probably change drivers then, but how hard is it to change memory cards and keep it going?

Once 32Gb SDHC cards are available, you should be able to get 12 hours with no problem if you do the 720p setting. Probably 8 hours at the full tilt setting. Well, this is for the aiptek units.

Prototype 32Gb cards are out now, so they should be available soon.

Should be simple enough to hook into the cars 12V, so batteries are no issue.

Guys, which Aiptek are you using? They look like HD models, but I don't see that HD models have image stabilization. Are these done without?

I'm using the A-HD. No image stabilization, and no post-processing done to my videos.

I presume that has a screw hole in the bottom for mounting to the various in car mounting systems????

I read the description but it did not say anything about that and I didn't see a pic of the bottom.

Thanks,
James

Yes, it does have a screw hole. I just got one yesterday. I assume it is the correct size, it looks like it, but I haven't attached it yet.

Also, something to keep in mind is that SDHC cards do not work with all SD card readers, as I found out last night.
