Oil cooler, it sits on top of the motor. The stock unit is tiny, either the S or the stock 996 unit are a better choice....

I will do the initially strippinng and prep work myself, then hand it over to Todd Opperman for the rest (TOPP Racing). He is based out of MSR and handled all the Cup cars out there.

Most people would call it an "Oil Cooler", Porsche likes to call it an "Oil Heat Exchanger".

Chris, mine is a "996.107.025.57", shows to be the same one used on a 996. I rescued it from a pile of my junk up at Boardwalk.

Is there anyone running spec boxster at the SE races like Sebring, Roebling, Daytona, Road Atlanta? Does it fit well in PBOC? I am really considering building a 996 for H class, and plan to run w/ PCA and PBOC.

OH yeah! Building my 996 now. I think a spec 996 class is in order. Who's in?

Believe it or not...996Spec is being worked on by the folks that brought you Boxster Spec Racing. I've got the "very prelim" spec and it looks like my totally stock 1999 996 is the perfect donor car!....

So by default....I'm in!

Damm. Let me know what the rules look like so I don't build mine too over the top. I just picked up a set of very lightly used Ohlin's, which probably will be a no-no for spec. I'm already in!

Default Progress

Ok so far most of the interior is out. I am trying to keep it driveable for the DE this weekend then all hell will break loose...Got the front bumper off and condensors out, rebar out, impact thingy's out, new plugs, front engine mount, fuel filter.

Waiting on shocks, springs, GT3 Control Arms(thanks Dell), and hard top. Then off for cage and paint.

I heard the new PSS10's are significantly lighter. Anyone seen weight specs for them?
