Hey Rob, I'm in. I am planning on building a car with my dad that he may run with us in NASA and then I can run it at PCA events. I hope I can start building at the end of the summer. Who are you going to have build your car?

Wow - I never imagined SpecBoxster taking off around here.

Anybody bringing one to the MSR DE event. I want to check one out.

JW - can you give an idea of specs - weight, RWHP, etc. what lap times were you/SW doing in it?

Thanks.

Ritesh.

Ritesh,
They dyno'd several out in Cali @ 187 rwhp +/-3. They weigh 2700 including driver. Steve turned a high 1:57 @ TWS & he doesn't even have the car sorted yet. In fact, two nights earlier it was in pieces in the hangar Should be able to drop another second hopefully with time/dial-in.

Operating costs are very much like a DE car. 2-3 weekends on tires which are $ 800.00 a set mounted, $ 150.00 in fuel over 3 days, VERY easy on brakes since you don't use them much & parts are cheap which I unfortunately found out Used motors are $ 3k-4k for low mileage units w/some deals out there for sub $2k. Reman. w/core exchange from Porsche is around $ 6k. Used trannys are around $ 1k or less. Bumpers, fenders, etc. are $ 150.00 or so & very plentiful. They built A LOT of Boxsters! Extra wheel sets are $ 400 - $ 500.00. We replaced my DS rear frame mount, half shaft, hub, tranny brace(all used) & a new GT3 front control arm on my car. Parts totaled around $ 875.00. We are going to put together a community spares package for the guys that run with us that has basic suspension parts, calipers, etc. to carry to race weekends. We did that on the cups & it worked great when something came up @ the track.

Figure high $ 20k to mid $ 30k to build one depending on how much work you do yourself including the donor car.

Looks interesting for sure... I like the cheap parts. Sounds like about half the field will have a 13 on them. NO FEAR...

Dave,
It got the Barbie car knick name before it even got here so I figured, what the hell Hey, @ least the Green in my logo is the right color Your going to dig this little car once you drive it.

I just got off the phone w/Blair. I'm not a big fan of the pea & Army greens. Those should be changed by Heartland.

PS: Greg, Thanks for taking the pics! I'll call you about the CD.

Check out my center caps on the pics from Greg, these cars are so slow they dont even throw the crests off. Chris, we gotta get your priorities in line, Hallet! I see how active you are chasing parts if you don't have the car ready for the ECR event it won't just be a Barbie car it will be Barbie Builder.

DAMN MAN I am trying. I racked up 3000 miles today thanks to AMEX. ordering top and tires in the morning. Working with Brad Roberts out in CA for some other bits so that after the April DE the car will be mine to disect. Hopefully I can have everything installed and ready to go to Todd for the cage shortly after that.

I am working on it I promise. I took a bunch of pics today and did some maint stuff. Plugs, fuel filter, engine mount, blead brakes. Its amazing how much pepier the car is with just new plugs and fuel filter. Got control arms on the way as well as seat, steering wheels, pads etc. Put a call in to PMNA about Cup steering wheel, shifter, and quick release will let you know how crazy the prices are if its worth it or not.

I guess having a few cup cars helps with that. I waited over 8 months and finally get fed up of hearing "call back in two weeks".
