I was told that the rubber suspension parts would be elongated if I left a car on the lift for extended periods. I'm sure someone could build something that whould attach to the arms that would allow you to drive onto the arms and lift the car by the tires. Anything is possible if you have enough money!

Matt, my 4 post has two sliding jacks that allow me to lift the car off the ramps. So I can do brakes, etc, as well having the underside free.

Much better for storage. 2 post is really bad for suspension components especially shocks. Maybe if you remove the wheels you save that 40# or so pulling on each corner you could do the 2 post lift.

For me, garage ceiling height, storage, and overall safety, I went with the 4 post.

I had a 10 watt brain fart idea and am making a setup this weekend from some scrap metal I had in hand. 2 rectangular frames from 1.75 ERW tubing that was leftover from the days when it was OK to use in rollbars. Add in some ERW retangular box with an 1-1/8 bolt set in the center of each end.
Set on floor drop the 4 lift arms on the 4 bolts spin the nuts down and drive right on. Best of both 2 and 4 post. The devices I am making are not heavy or bulky and can be stored on the wall nearby. I'll post pix of the car up neat or in a crashed pile depending on if it works or not

Another idea I had was to install a hook or ring in the inside of each fender well on the car and hook a chain from the hook to a point on each swing arm while the car was on the ground. Lift the car and the wheels and suspention stay at normal compression. That rig could be stored in a drawer.

I have been storing my car wheels hanging of and on for years with no issues. YMMV

Huh? What makes whoever gave you that advice certain that they are not being "elongated" with the car sitting on them? There is definately less spring pressure and load on them at full droop. Also, I cannot see the harm in having a shock hang fully extended for a while.

Not from me but he gets them anyway. I drive a 912 in the upper groups and purchase passing signals by the pallet at Costco. What is one more. Besides, it is the second pass during a run that pisses me off...

Dell do you have any problem getting your car over the 3 1/2 clearance of that center lift. I looked at that but concerned the 3 won't clear it when you drive on. What i saw looked to stick up a bit above the floor of the lift??

The GT3 has about 4-4.5" of clearance so no problem. I do not have the jacks installed yet (next Wednesday) but can tell you another friend locally has the EXACT setup (same lift, jacks, etc.) and can get his 2 low cars over it (GT3RS and Ford GT). I can take some pics next Wednesday if you like?
