Who has a lift in their garage?

The lift they show in the pics IS an asymetrical lift. I have the same lift but with the overhead connector instead of it being on the floor.
Next question. Does anyone know what our wheelbases are?? or do I have to drive over to the garage....

Late to the party, but one other take on the door issue. I have a Rotary assymetric and 12 ft ceiling. My builder just spec'd an extra panel at the top of the door, making in effect an 11+ foot door with but only an 8 foot tall opening. Then he put the tracks up at the ceiling. From the outside it matches the other 3, carriage style wooden doors. The opener is snug against the ceiling in the middle of the garage, but I have enough clearance to lift my Landrover a full 6ft off the ground without hitting the opener.
Not to hijack but if I was building one now I would ask the experts here what they would do differently. Here's one. I had iron air line run in the walls before the sheetrock was put up and I have an air reel over the bench at the front of the garage. I wish I had also had it run in the ceiling with fittings sticking out on either side of the lift and have pigtail air hoses hanging there. May sound lazy but it sure would be convenient! Anybody else got one?
Cheers

Let's see, what I would do differently:
1) Make it bigger. I did 30 x 25 on this one and I could have easily done 30 x 30 and should have. I'd guess most everyone would list this though......can you ever get one big enough?
2) More light. I thought I did flourescent light everywhere. It's bright, but I swear I wish I would have doubled what I put up. At least I can fix this now, but it would have been so easy and cheap during construction.

A "standard" 2 car garage is about 24' x 24'. There is a trend in some circles to make it smaller but I would not reccomend it. In fact, most of ours are significantly larger.
A "standard" single garage door is eight feet wide and seven feet tall. Unfortunately, it is hard if not impossible to get a full size SUV through that door. We now install 9' x 8' for a single door.
Let me know if you have any other questions....

24' x 36' and 11.5' at the peak seemed right at the time. Enough room to add a couple more cars should always be part of the plan. One of the last Autolifters delivered before trying to be price competitive with foreign built units did them in.

Lift clearance question 4 post
Does anyone use this type of lift on a 4 post jack and have any problem getting a 997 gt3 on board? It says clearance is 3 1/2 inches which is the same clearance as the 3

I have this on my 4 post lift...no issues with either my 993 that is lowered to RS heights nor my race car.

+1 Ditto...I'm feeling very inadequate. I think it's time to get a lift and feel better!
All...thanks for all the informative posts. Some of your garage floors are so clean, I could extend the usual "ok to eat it if it's on the floor for 5 seconds or less" rule to maybe 2-3 hours or so.
Kurt and 4 post owners,
I read before somewhere that only a few of the 4 posters have enough width between the ramps to do a 911 engine drop. If any of you have done a drop, what 4 post lift do you have?
