Pontiac should be ashamed to race the GXP...Is there a single part on that car that is production based?? Imagine all the casual observers who watch and think Pontiacs are runnin' with the Porsches and sometimes winning!

Same thing can be said for the BMW M6 that is running as well.

Remember, this race is run by the same people who own NASCAR.

Grand Am is under the aspices of NASCAR. Its a minor deal to them, I think they did just to give ALMS problems ala the Tony George/CART scenario back when U.S. sportscar racing almost self-destructuded under Andy Evans' idiocy. Since NASCAR relies so heavily on GM for keeping the "Nastycar Nextel Cup" spec series alive, they aren't going to do anything to **** of the 1,000-lb gorilla. So Pontiac, Ford and Dodge would probably get a free pass to run about anything they brought to the track w/o much question being posed.

...and yet they still can't sell a car. That type of "free pass" mentatlity has probably done more to harm than help domestic automakers...If they were forced to compete on a level field maybe the products would be better, they'd sell more cars, the car drivers would be happy, and the companies wouldn't be teetering on the edge of bankruptcy! Rant over.

Ah, but this just shows you how great the GT3 Cups really are, they can beat the best GM, Ford. Mazda and others throw at them in the Grand-Am.
I love it.

Its not just the American Iron folks. There are Mazda R8s Hauling A__ here at Daytona that are full tube frame, and triple rotors. And yes, full tube framed BMW. Doesn't look like like a stock tub.

Three Wheelin'
I was walking my dog at the dog beach at Ponce Inlet, and heard the roar of the cars. Thought it was that other unmentionable series, so I didn't go out there. What a mistake. Back in Tennessee now.
