Right now I am using the G-Force ratchet straps (pic attached) and have been very happy with them until now. I have since gone from an easy wheel to pass the straps through to a BBS motorsport wheel and it is damn near an exercise in futility to get the strap through the wheel. The metal ring is a bit large and is drivng me nuts trying to feed it through the wheel.
Any suggestions? I am open to anything to make life easier at this point.
TIA!

Dell,
Just pull the strap out of the ratchet and run that end through the spokes instead of the end with the hook on it.
If your strap is long enough just attach both hooks to the d-ring and don't bother using the little ring in the middle of the strap.

Jim, aren't you concerned with the jerks and bumps pulling the suspension out of alignment?

I have never had a car that was tied down by the wheels come out of alignment specs due to trailer travel. Some time ago, I had a race suspension engineer describe the forces applied to the cars suspension when driven hard on track vs. the rather low stress forces found on a trailer when tied down by the wheels.

I have a different car, but I like the Autometrics eyelet that the ratchet strap clips on. Quick and easy without any potential damage that I know of.

Find hooks that go into the jack points.

Mount your rain tires on the old wheels.
Swap wheels before you put the car in the trailer.
The wheels in my avatar are also BBS, but the car rides on cookie cutters when it's in the trailer.

I thought about that but what a PITA to do after a long weekend. I want to drive up in the trailer and go!

Not sure if it is thin enough, but it is easier to slip these through the wheels: (They are called axle straps)

Slip these through the wheels and then attach the snap hook to this axle strap.

These hooks http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...70_43572_43572 will go directly into the jack points. As I understand it, this is what the factory uses to tie down the car when shipping. But these aren't even necessary - most hooks on the end of the strap will attach directly to the jack point with a little wiggling.

Larry, I used to worry about it but all the top teams seem to tie their cars down by the wheels. I've never had a problem.
The Autometric loops are great but Dell's car is probably too low to use them in front and on back they put the strap hook very close to an oil line.
I don't see how the jack point hook would work on a 996 based car.
