PCA DE Question
trust me i was all in while running with the 1980's era 911 DTR car that seemed to be in my mirror or in my windshield all weekend. i chased him into turn 1 causing him to overcook and snap spin in front of me. i took the safe route and went off. was he any more irresponsible at this moment than i was? hard to say. however, i would never try to over rotate my car in an attempt to prove i had mad circus skills. kinda like those imbeciles that video taped themselves shooting people with a paint ball gun from a moving car. musta seemd like a good idea at the time.
If I were in that car, I'd be crapping myself everytime he comes to T3, oh no, what this time? hahaha....
Chin need to do/say something publicly about this. I was considering signing up for their December event even last night, which I won't now.

Given the number of cars flying off the track (some multiple times), the issue appears to be more widespread than a "rogue group of 5 or 6". Even if the video only represents a fraction of the total number of laps in that event, it's rather damning.
clowned indeed.
It almost looked like this driver was WANTING to see what kind of drift he could save in T-3....!!!!!
Chin Motorsports has a very well structured program, and is one of the most highly developed DE providers in the country. In 2007, our extensive calendar features 20 events at 8 different tracks, more than any PCA chapter. PCA has a fantastic legacy for building the foundations of DE for the track enthusiast. But, it is possible for very successful events to be organized by other than the PCA. Interestingly, many of our instructors are fully qualified with PCA nat'l certification. Many of our drivers have PCA background, and we recognize solo qualifications from PCA. We treat drivers like mature adults, and expect them to conduct themselves accordingly. If a driver doesn't meet that standard, they are blackflagged and counseled.
Regarding the video, that is obviously a compilation, with pieces from various in-car cameras. That is not one driver, on one day. A couple of the shots come from the cockpit of a driver that is a nationally certified PCA instructor. And, none of the shots show the black flags that those drivers received after having an off. Be cautious about making assumptions... Our safety record is exemplary. There's a big difference between an 'off', and an 'incident'.
We welcome all drivers, entry level to FIA licensed. Numerous pros from ALMS, Grand Am, and SCCA participate with us for quality practice time. We welcome all marques. Track safety is always paramount. Our emphasis is on lower enrollment, fewer run groups, and more track time. Our typical event gives access to 3.5 hours daily track time.

Our consistent practice is that name calling or yelling at drivers isn't very useful for coaching excellent technique.
