Naw. Get out there with PCA and enjoy. You don't have to make tires squeal to have an absolute blast. The first several events you attend are priceless.

I think the clubrace I participated in had less action than that by a LONGSHOT...

Bob, I agree. My experience is the same with the flaggers at VIR (I was NOT two wheels off!) and they run a very good, tight event. I have not instructed at a TracQuest, now Chin/TracQuest, event in years, and never at VIR, but the entire video compilation surprises me....both about chin and VIR.

He was obviously in contention for the WDEC. Why else would he drove like an asshat, nearly hitting multiple cars. Or maybe he knew that Ferrari was scouting at that event for their next F1 star.

Why would you show a student the same stupid mistakes two, three times over again? I doubt that the student was even close to green - that would have been nuts.

I took my student out over the rumble strips... um, to demonstrate how much extra room you have to track out if you need it. Forgot to show them how "safe" it is to go off track, I'll have to remember that one for next time.

Student groups at PCA events look absolutely nothing like this video.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys---I will give a PCA DE a try. So this was a Chin Motorsports event? I thought it was a "Duct Tape Motorsports" sponsored event---at least that's how the video started off.

"Cool saves, spins, off tracks, from my recent trip to VIR in my Porsche 911. Also video chasing a Porsche Carrera GT."

Yeah.

No disrespect to other non-PCA events. Clearly the video you saw had open passing which usually can only include drivers with several dozen track days of experience or more. PCA events run a tight ship with safety, and with the $$$ cars that attend, there seems to be a mutual respect of each other and the beautiful cars.

You will love track driving if you enjoy AXing. Very different - you will have some new habits to learn, while building on the good car control skills you already have.

What a complete TOOL...he's not even going that fast...most of his f-ups are between 50-60MPH...he barely breaks 100MPH in that video.

I dub thee: "EL DOUCHEAAABAG"

To answer the question, your experience at a PCA DE will not look anything like that. You will actually learn how to drive!
x2.

What a CF.
