Wheel weights won't stay on track tires
I have 17" track wheels, and the balancing weights won't stay on. They are monunted insid the wheel. After one event, I noticed one was dangling. I took it back to the tire shop, and we thought it might not have been cleaned well enough, so he rebalanced them. However, after the next track event, I noticed one of the weights was dangling again. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I dunno, but I cant keep my rim from rotating in the wheel..so balancing for me is generally a futile effort to begin with (though its done every time anyway)

After attaching the weights, tape over them with aluminum foil tape. That is the only tape that will stay. Available from hardware stores - Lowes, Ace, Home Depot, etc.

Yep... when I was helping Synergy Racing in the pits at the Rolex race at Miller a few weeks ago, that was one of my jobs... taping the wheel weights with that stuff.
They had me put on 2 layers, by the way... not sure if it makes a big difference, but you figure they do it for a reason.

Next time they mount your tires. Have them clean the inside of the rim then spray "hair spray" between the bead and the rim prior to inflation. Yep, sounds odd, but one of the guys on the forum swears by it.

Tire rotating on rim
Thanks for the off-subject, but related, tip. I think all our tires rotate on the rims. Generally, fronts from braking, and rears from acceleration; although in some cases the rears don't even think about it. We started tracking the movement after Paul @ Radial Tire mentioned it might be happening. Cleanliness mattered, shaved RA1s on new Kinesis did not rotate as much as on old Fuchs. There is a small colored dot, low on the sidewall of the RA1s that Radial tire mounts next to the valve stem. If the dot is not present, make one with paint stick. I am sure that Drew's tires rotate a lot more then mine.

Aluminum tape works for me too. We also have the guy at the wheel polishing shop clean the insides of the wheels a couple of times per season. It gets rid of all the brake dust, old adhesive, and dirt and makes it a lot easier to attach weight and clean.
