Default Guys running lexan front windscreens

Guys running lexan front windscreens: Do you find it necessary to run with a center metal support so the windscreen does not flex at speed? Is flexing not an issue but just my paranoid thinking?

Thanks!

Not an issue for me and no extra support. (What thickness are you worried about?)

I have a 1/4" lexan front windscreen installed in the factory rubber gasket and run with no center support. At high speeds 130-150, it does move slightly, but not annoyingly so.

I've got a Five Star Bodies 1/4 Lexan - like Geoffrey - mine is mounted with factory seal, no supports.
145 or so you can see it moving - I don't notice it during driving, but can see it in the videos...

anyone running fiberglass frame withOUT window glued/rtv'ed to frame? What's experiences on flexing?I was planning on just screwing mine to frame so I could take our for service purposes.

also, any experiences with the newer hardened lexan windshield that ma shaw has out? they say you can wipe it with steel wool and it will not scratch.

btw, at the nasa nationals the tt gt3r that rick deman was working on had two angled braces behind windshield on passanger side. ...not sure what window was in it. i believe it was in factory rubber.

I would install the window in the fiberglass flush mounted frame with camloc fasteners, not screws.

I was think'n about that, however I thought that screws with large alum washers like panelfast sells would be better since it would make better contact between windshield and frame (maybe helping flexing) rather than it being elevated a little by the pop rivits on the frame. ...however, I could put relief divits on back side of lexan for rivits...

You can use the large aluminum recessed washers (about 1/2" in diameter) made for Camloc fasteners if you are that worried about it.

mine was coming in and rubbing on my shift light. Actually, now that it come out of the seal a little, it does not move near as much as it used too. I think it is wedged in tight now.

I run a 1/4" shield. It is glued in and has 7 brackets around the edge holding it down. No center support and frankly I don't think the glue is doing much anymore either. It does move a bit over 120. No problems up to near 140 at the glen.

Mine was bought used and is showing some wear. I may replace it early next season. With how it is mounted, I can do the install myself.
