Default Hudson Valley Region WGI DE / OPEN TRACK Oct 17/18

The Hudson Valley Region is pleased to offer our first "Driving into Fall" event at Watkins Glen. This event will offer a unique format with only two run groups (assigned) and sessions that vary in duration. There will be something for everyone by offering both Driver's School and Open Track with lots of track time for both. We'll be inviting BMW club drivers and others, so there will be opportunity to make new friends and drive with makes other than Porsche. Those who have run with our Region before know that we offer a relaxed, low key event. Since this is a new event for us, we expect to have 50-60 drivers so we estimate the run groups will be empty with lots of passing opportunities.

PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE:
• 8:30-9:30 Open Track
• 9:30-10:00 - Instructed Students
• 10:00-11:15 - Open Track
• 11:15-12:00 - Instructed Students
• 1:00-2:00 - Open Track
• 2:00-2:30 - Instructed Students
• 2:30-3:15 - Open Track
• 3:15-3:45 - Instructed Students
• 3:45-4:30 - Open Track

OPEN TRACK RULES:
1. The Open Track sessions will be run with Driver's Education rules, however, there will be open passing with a signal anywhere the track is straight.
2. Approved instructors can ride or take passengers at any time. Unapproved instructors and regular open track participants cannot. Approved instructors may or may not be utilized instructors for this event.
3. Open track applicants are typically black and red drivers.

INSTRUCTED STUDENTS:
1. This group will be Green/Yellow drivers, some with in-car instructors and others approved for solo.
2. White drivers will be assigned this run group until signed off for open track.

OPEN TRACK APPLICATION:
• Must provide references from the applicant's Region or Organization's chief instructor
• At the event, a checkout ride can be requested for promotion to Open Track Participant status

EVENT FEES (Both Days):
• Garage Fees - $25 per car for the event. Each garage will be assigned 2 cars although more may utilize the garage and distribute fees amongst themselves
• Instructed Students - $300
• Instructors and Open Track Participants - $300
• Utilized Instructors - $150 Rebate at the track

APPLICATION:
The application can be found on our website at www.pca.org/hv or via attachment below. The .PDF application has fill in the blank sections and can be typed into and then printed.

Is there an option and discounted price for attending only one day? Looks like a great event, but I am booked the first day.

The weather in October can vary widely from 80s to 40s so no one can tell you what the weather will be like. We recognize this and are working to get a better date than October for next year as we'd like to run more events with this type of format. The trees will be changing during this time which provides a nice backdrop for your stay at Watkins Glen.

The last time I ran at WGI in October (and it will continue to be my last October event there), it was 22 degrees in the morning. Race tires don't grip when it's that cold.

Last year it was 70 degrees and sunny, so as I said, the weather can vary.

All you need is a couple extra laps to warm up the Mobil 1 & get the Michelin Man inflated

Geoffrey,
Can't make this one. I'm already heading to WGI twice in Oct. I wish I knew this event was planned, I would have signed up for your event. Great concept and one I will look for next year.
Thanks again for all of your help with my 993TT.
