Question CG-Lock?

http://www.cg-lock.com/

Have any of you used a product to lock down and tighten up the standard seat belt called CG-Lock?

I have one I used in my 997S when I DE'd it, works quite well. I'll sell it for 1/2 price + shipping if you want it... I should be able to find it.

Yes, they're nice, but confusing to install.

I like mine for DE's- it really keeps you planted in your seat.

Another trick I've seen used is to twist the belts with the lap portion really tight and the seat all the way back and reclined, then pull quickly on the shoulder strap and lock it in place, then bring the seat forward tightening the whole system. Works and it is free!

I have been using them for about a year at DE's and they are great. My only issue is that I was getting bruised on the hip at the CG lock (its not padded). This last DE finally I slipped a small folded towel between my hip and the CG lock and no more bruising (duh).

I used to used mitch236's method....it works but the CG lock is better.

Definitely need to do the shoulder strap lock technique as well....its amazing how secure you can get this way....

These pieces really work great. They do take a little bit of time to get installed properly. They add weight to the end of the belt and since the belt is locked into place, can be annoying day to day. They can be easily removed for daily driving.

+1...been doing this for years...but without the twisting of the lap portion. Seat all the way back and reclined...lap portion tight and then follow the procedure for me. Works like a charm.

Gary, if you find it let me know.

About the twisting deal and seat all the wat back....I am 6'5" tall so my seat is all the way back so that will not work for me. I do not want to be twisting up my belts anyway.

I've used one on my M3. Great little device, and not difficult to install at all.

Interesting solution and timely for me because I've been trying to decide what to do to stay more securely planted. I have been considering getting a harness bar and harnesses for my RS America (for DE use only), but don't really want to replace the OEM RSA seats. The issue would be the shoulder straps (with no guide holes in the seats) and no hole for anti-submarine strap. I'm not sure what is allowed for DE's in PCA and the like. I know that whatever I do for the driver side, I have to do for the passenger side. Anybody running harnesses (4 or 5 pt) with stock seats without guide holes? Is that legal for PCA DE?

i have driven in others peoples cars with OEM seats and CG locks installed

in the car the CG lock seems to feel nice and tight, but once i get on the track i cant tell the difference.

The CG lock is great - which is saying a lot considering I came from an M3 with Schroths and my Porsche doesn't permit a harness unless I change out the seats (which I don't want to do). I put on the CG in about 2 minutes before my 1st session, and remove it in about 30 seconds. I'd never use them on the street - no reason and the belt is sure to get stuck in the door and cause damage. I got mine at eBay for significantly less than other places - bought 2 but one is still in the package because I've never had a passenger with me on the track... Lonely...

If it's legal in your area, it won't be for long. Most regions are going to "safety systems" where you cannot mix and match belts and seats etc. Stock seats can only be used with stock belts. Only racing seats designed for 5 or 6 point belts can use such in concert with a roll bar or a harness bar (not a guide bar) designed to take the load of the belts. Belts looped over guide bars and fastened to the rear seat belt holes will soon be regulated against as well (too much stretch).
