What a sad setup... have the high speed end of the course aimed at parked cars and spectators.
Uh... he may have been an 'experienced' driver... but he jumps from a mid 90's vette into his friend's GT3 on sticky tires... and then grabs the clutch instead of the brake?
A very unfortunate and very unnecessary incident.

Now for the bad part of the day. The finish section was a quick left into the finish cones. There was room at the time that you could really build up some speed while you ran the last 200 feet. In the first run group in the afternoon session, there was a B-E-A-utiful GT3 running. The forth run was just for fun as only the first 3 runs count toward your points. The guy let his friend drive the 4th run. The friend was driving a nice mid 90's Vette and was one of the fastest cars in the run group.
So as he came through the finish cones, he went to grab the brakes but got the clutch instead and this is the aftermath....

And the GT3? Well, kiss about $70k .

Every single body panel on that wagon (not a ricer ) has been hit. That things looking at easily 10k and closer to 15K to repair. Good thing you aren't his insurance adjuster
The owner of the wagon was in good spirits since noone got hurt but is expecting someone else to cover the damages and rightfully so. Hopefully the guy will pay for it.

Just curious. Don't left foot brakers keep their foot poised over the brake, I know I do if I am driving fast. Does anyone remember the Audi fiasco of 15-20 years ago when people mixed up the gas and brake pedals, a killed a bunch of people, and then tried to blame it on "unintended acceleration"
This must be "unintended not stopping".
