Default Road Atlanta Sprint Race

Here's the video from my sprint race. It's 171 meg, so you may want to download it. It's my first time there, and I know that I am giving away time in 1 and 12, but feel free to offer suggestions. Unlike Leh's video, it's taken in slow motion, and there's more cars around to make it interesting.

Larry, I have only watched 6 minutes so far, but here are some initial observations, NOT in order (sorry):

-use more apex curb in 7 for more mid corner speed & a better launch
-be more consistent using all the curbs in 10a & 10b
-use more of the curb in 3 to slightly later apex 3 & get into 4 straighter
-use more of the 2nd curb in the esses
-need to get on gas sooner at the top of the esses (4)
-need more positive throttle entering 12 to settle car
-at 4:28, watch how the 996 takes T5 by staying along the entry curb at right for ~5 more feet than you do, and he really pulls you on exit every time
-get on gas sooner in 6
-need more throttle exiting 1 (should be WOT pretty much just after turn in when you remain in 4th gear

T5: Brake sooner, downshift sooner, get back on power at turn-in. You are downshifting near the apex when you should be throttle to the floor and holding on for dear life.

Very impressive drove from Larry for his first-ever time at RA, frankly. But then again, we expect no less from Larry!

Great job Larry, especially considering the lack of track time we got (especially you, with the roll bar padding incident). I think you made some GREAT moves early in the race, and actually outdrove the other C cars. Those 996s do everything better than a 964 and the 993 RS/CS(?) are no slouches either! If all the advice above would actually help, you would run with Leh

That start was ridiculous, the front started accelerating right at the top of the hill, I guess they have no choice but to throw the green to avoid a pileup?

Thanks for posting and see you at Lime Rock.

Great job, Larry ... and Mike! No need for me to download any video--I have plenty of both of you walking away from me. (I was having a few issues.)

I was actually quite impressed by how strongly your car pulls, Larry. I guess that 270-lb difference vs the a/c-equipped RSA's makes a huge difference (plus a competent pilot at the wheel). I was hoping to swing by and say "hey" to a few other Rennlisters--I actually met a few new ones--but you know race weekends go.

Good luck on the rest of your season!

Nice job, Larry !!!

I suggest you look closely at Brian Watts' R/A tape... fast lap on cold tires. He really gets on the throttle earlier.

Pleasure meeting you and your family. Glad to see someone else likes to have the family along.

Thanks for the help guys. So I was leaving about 1.5~2 seconds on the table. Maybe a little more? That would put me in good shape for next year.

What's the power/weight on your car and are you running slicks or DOT's?
