S2000. As the 911 pushed wide (you could see that coming a mile away when he ultra-early-apexed after making the pass), the S2000 was on WOT to re-take the pass. DUMB MOVE. There was a high likelyhood of the 911 doing the typical 2 wheels off/trying to save it/J-turn the other way.....which is exactly what happened.

IMO, the 993 didn't safely complete the pass. Obviously early apex and should have just put two feet in.

But it's hard to have much sympathy for the S2000, should have seen it coming and let off the gas.

911's fault. You could hear him lose control and then see him spin into the path of the S2000

Sorry, but the S2000 should have anticipated what happened, especially with an instructor in the right seat.

The 911 screwed up royally.

The S2000, however, guaranteed a collision rather than just the 911 spinning.

Mostly the Porker. Goes in early, washes out, hooks it back across the track. He had plenty of room to catch the car if he just kept it straight and bounced it thru the grass until he had it slowed and under control. The guy in the Honda has to maintain some throttle mid-corner or he's going to whack the Porker with his own *** as it goes around on the throttle-lift. Without Heinie-dyno info from the Honda, there is no way to know if he was at that "about to spin" point.

Honda guy could probably have realized that the Porkchop was doomed when he saw the corner entry...but that's something that you can't 'expect' to know at the HPDE level.

It is when you have an instructor in the right seat, Helmut.

Depends on the rules of the event. If it was open passing, they share responsibility (911 lost control, S2000 should have seen it coming). If it was point-by passing rules, the 911 was ahead of the S2K and didn't give a pass. The worst time to just pass someone without a signal is when they are out of control cause you don't know where they are going, and they probably aren't expecting you to pass them.

911 washing out the front end b/c he was too hot into the turn, the S2000 didn't note the 911 was off the track at exit...........I guess thats why its called DE, hard to tell which is a more at fault when there is plenty of blame for both.

Well, we'll just have to disagree on that.

The best part is the guy in the S2000 takes off his belts and leans his head outside to look at the damage while they are still on track and cars are whizzing by!!! S2000 driver has a lot to learn, I'd guess (contact avoidance, keeping your belts on when on track...)

Not real impressive on either driver's part. The Porsche took a very late pass ... went in too fast and too early ... but it should have been no surprise to the S2000 driver that he was going to have to be cautious. He seems to have just assumed the Porsche would make it through with no problem. Bad assumption. The S2000 was back on the gas like he was out there by himself ... not like he was close on the tail of a probably soon to be out of control car.

So ... they share responsibility for the accident. They were both driving way too aggressively for their apparent skill levels.

I'd be interested in knowing what group they were running with so I can be sure to avoid them.
