The way I see it, Jorg set up the pass coming into 16 and when he passed Melo tracking out (carrying more speed) on inside of 16 he received the first bump on the straight when Melo tried to squeeze him closer to the wall to kill his momentum. He managed to keep the car straight and went too hot into 17 carrying too much speed to close the door on Melo (for narrow exit out of 18).
I understand that Melo drove excellent race and tried to defense Ferrari's victory. But let's think for a second. What if Jorg after receiving bump(s) in 18 would of lost it and ended up in the wall with fatal crash. How would everybody call the Melo's driving? I understand the concept of "racing for win in last corner", but when you put someone's life in danger making move like that, I'd call it dirty racing and in my opinion Melo's should be penalized... My 02 cents.

then again the ALMS agrees, the immeadiate arrogance by Jorg after the race on the radio about filing a protest is , well ,Hmm can i say , girlie .....
Unfortunately Melo was not side by side through 17 when he upset Jorg's car bumping him the first time. Jorge was leading at that point, the mere fact of hitting, not once but three times further slowing his car as he slid losing speed. No he did not get punted, you are right, Jorg saved his car from going around. I guess that makes it ok. It was dangerous for sure, had he crashed everyone would see this different.

Two kinds of people in the world, one that will do anything to win and ones that do not. everyone must pick their position, which is what makes the world interesting.

38D and I are already planning our "Melo" shirts for the ALMS Lime Rock race in July. If anyone is attending an ALMS race sooner and wants one, PM me and we can talk about the correct design (I have the ability to make t-shirts).

Mild ideas include, "Ferrari: 2nd Place Sebring '07" or similar...

I'm happy to entertain more direct shirt ideas, too...

Oh, and to back up Rick D. on this, Jorg was well clear of the Ferrari heading into the last turn. At that point, the Ferrari was clearly in 2nd...

Jupe,

Maybe there's something in the NY/NJ water, but I saw it exactly the same as you and Rick.

Ferrari was second.

Perhaps I should clarify that the Porsche was clearly ahead of the Ferrari in the last turn. That's where critical bump #1 occurred which sent the Porsche out to the wall. Bumps #2 and #3 happened out at the wall.

I would be interested, if the T-SHIRT SAID:

If you Snooze yuh Lose , Porsche 2nd place Sebring 07

or

Bump and Run : Ferrari 1st place Sebring 07

or
Bergmiester king of tears : 2nd Place sebring 07

As of right now, 2 PM Pacific, ALMS has the results still listed as "Provisional". Final race results are apparently pending. One can only hope....

Melo's move was dirty, but far worse have happened (including David Murray's flying car move on the GTO). Jorg was clearly in front in 17. In retrospect, Jorg should have cut Melo off and put him into the inside wall.
