Is it true that the NASA race series has mandatory dyno pulls

NASA GTS classes cars based on a lbs/hp ratio. You need to have a dyno certification form on file at the beginning of the season to justify the class you're running in. Top cars in class are weighed at the end of qualifying or races to make sure they meet the minimum lbs/hp for their class. At some events there is a dyno on site to check the top cars in class to ensure that they're putting out the hp stated on their certification forms. I ran the entire Ohio/Indiana region schedule last year and I was on the dyno several times. Its a pretty painless process that's well worth it in my opinion.

Here on the left coast, I've never heard of this. The only time I've heard of any kind of dyno being required out here is in the SCCA for the sealed engine Spec Miata class.

Forced induction is not legal, as Bryan mentioned, in the Spec Miata class. Apparently there's some kind of tag that is put on th e engine after it is dyno'd. I heard that they dyno'd it to a specific max hp -- something like 108 iirc. But I bet there will still be cheaters. There are a lot of smart people in the world -- somebody always seems to find a way.
