A friend and I saw that ad in Panarama also....and got the same response. It wasn't listed on the website Mart. Never hurts to have two!

Do you think he's got anything else he might be selling?

When I was looking for my track car, a 964 Cup would have been ideal, but the market was $60k+; hard to beleive that a good car went from $20k under that. Somebody got very, very lucky.
Kind of like a modern day barn find.

Colin, ahhh, you mean this one? It was a shame they let that 968 run.

Uggggh! Must remember to check the back of Pano upon arrival from now on.

People always like to say that another good/great deal will come along but there is always the best deal......if that makes any sense. This may (saying that w/o seeing, knowing the car of course) have been that one.

Congrats to whoever was lucky enough to get it.

Geoffrey - did they know something was wrong with the car prior to the race?

I am not in a position to say what people were or were not aware of. In my opinion, the car was smoking excessively when I saw it in the pits. I have heard third hand that some competitors had complained about it - to who and when, I don't know.

I think the guy who bought the car posts here. Don't remember his screen name. The car was on the pca.org classifieds in Dec or Jan for maybe a day. Sold quick.

I was gridded about 8 spots behind that 968. When it started, it was like a mosquito fogger. There was a long delay as the pit folks checked to see if the car should be allowed to run. It did stop smoking after a few mins, so I can understand why it was allowed to run. Plus it had smoked on startup each session without incident on the track.

The first 1/2 of the race was uneventful. I was exiting T1 as the 968 engine finally let go. Even though I was only going ~50mph by the time I got the esses, it was still absurdly slippery. Brett had no chance at all. It was very sad to see. In a cruel twist, this 968 didn't hit anything at all.

Bret Overrecker was in the "dinged" USA cup behind the puking 968 at the Glen. He then bought Bill's sorted USA cup. Bret has not run Bill's car in any club races... could be for sale again. $70k would be a deal and $40k is a steal... depending on mileage, etc, etc.
