Too noisy for Lime Rock?
Anyone ever run a straight pipe (no cat, no muffler) on a 951 at Lime Rock? I'm wondering if it will pass the noise restriction of 84 decibels.
They monitor it about 50 feet from the track at the end of the front straight, after you lift the throttle.

Thanks Bill. I kinda thought that, but I was hoping that a turbo may be just quite enough.
If Home Depot has run out of dish drains, can I borrow yours?
Just kidding...I know you'll need them for yourself.

I have cornered the sink drain market and sold them to FABSPEED. They are now known as "Super Cup Performance Booster Incerts". Dyno proven to raise horse power by 50 (each side), honest. $495. per set which includes my commission <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" /> What a Country!

From my experience no! Lime Rock has an 84db limit and will give you to 89db. I've been busted with a fully muffeled 930 Turbo (unmuffeled wastegate) at 91db and asked to park my car. They started the day measuring sound at the track out point at the downhill (beginning of the straight) which is where they first got me in the first run group. I short shifted for the remaining sessions, but did see them taking sound measurements on "no name straight", the short chute between "the uphill" and "west bend", so they do get around and are NOT flexible. When I was black flagged, they would not even tell me where they got me, only how loud I was.

They have been checking just before the bridge at the downhill this year. I saw Officer Friendly there recently. Pretty lame since all the sound channels right to that spot....

I think the wind has a lot to do with it. Last years Club Race it was blowing pretty good and I was not aware of any violations.
Roeblin Road also has a sound regulation. We drove the first practice day in 12 knots or so of wind without issue. The next day it was dead calm and I was black flagged for something like 12db over the limit.
In any event come prepared to cut the sound back if need be.

Haven't encountered any noise problems yet, but I do head to LCMT in August. I believe they have a 93dB limit.

Bill,
Rick Deman had noise issues at last year's club race with his muffeled GT1R GT2 Turbo, again, an unmuffeled wastegate seems the most likely issue.

Any thoughts on making my 996TT pass the LRP noise restrictions? I currently have B&B headers and fabspeed cats w/o mufflers and by the time I go back to LRP I will have added a set of K24's. Last time they told me I was over by 5 db and that was with a set of short downturns installed. What have others done to solve problems like this?
