Yes it is.
Did you get a chance to drive one?
Not to downplay the coolness of the hydraulically actuated platform (which is very, very cool), the best part was that the screen is large enough that it practically fills your peripheral vison...not like a typical video game. I get nauseous playing all video games but this one I could sit in for hours. I think it's because of the size of the screen and the lack of moving screen images vs. non-moving periphery.
It was a lot of fun and felt very real.

no sir, i've just heard of it today. i wonder if anybody in the bay area has one. i'm trying to get my bling bling friends to buy one.
what was your experience like? the FAQ says:
The 301 can generate about thee quarters of a G of sustained acceleration, and double or triple that for short periods like bumps and impacts. For reference, the feel is about five or six times as strong as spirited street driving.
Unlike most motion systems, the 301 responds very, very fast; you can feel each bump in ripple strips and sometimes the texture of pavement and gravel.

Careful - you might accidentally hijack a GhettoRacer thread. We wouldn't want THAT to happen.

not quite. my buddies on another forum did a better job:
oh the jokes i could come up with this post. let's see....
1. now you can finally 3 wheel your civic without fear of hitting the wall
2. now you can drive all the ferarris you want without fear of owner retribution
3. now you can finally drive your del sol without people pondering your sexual orientation.
that's about it for now.

it actually tries to simulate a wreck but only within the range of the platform. The hydraulic actuators if I recall correctly have about 24"+ of travel....or at least it felt like that much. The picture shows the platform in the off position. When you get in and start the whole thing rises up and the hydraulic actuators are extended.
it does replicate small bumps. I drove a simulation of Lime Rock and could feel all the same ripples and bumps that I normally feel in ym car.
when you crash it feels like it's about to throw you out of the motion platform.
go to the richard burns video on this page to see it in action.

keep in mind that's a rally simulation and anything road course would be a lot less motion.

I rode in the simulators that they had down at Daytona. I'm sure that they are not as sophisticated as that unit, bu they really were cool, and quite realistic. When some sonfabitch spun me on the last lap while I was leading the thing simulated a spin, and I actually came out of it quite dizzy!

Wonder if it would overheat the hydraulics if you load a Baja 1000 track? Now that would be a ride
