check this THREAD too. it was dclee who tried them and the 305 ra1s just didn't fit. the overall diameter is bigger than stock sizing by 1.3" and the ra1s are a wide 305 (305s should be 12" but ra1s are 12.5")

At Shenandoah I get air under all four wheels after coming under the bridge at about 120+ mph.
Did you notice any significant difference b/t the 305 and 275 as far as adhesion, oversteer, etc.?

Looks like the issue with dcLee's was that is was a 35 series tire. Rad said he had NO PROBLEM with the 30 series tire running 315 in the rear. The 35 series 305 is actually a full inch LARGER in diameter than the 315/30.

ah... from the other thread. well that settles it then right? the 315s worked for nj-gt.

EDIT: nj-gt was referring to the 315 MPSC @ 13.1" width so the nitto 315 @ 12.6" width should work.

Sounds like it does. Phokaioglaukos said he had rubbing under serious compression and air but that was the 305/35 RA1 as well. I think it might be a go then for the 315/30 NT01.

Please, please, please let this be the case. As mentioned... I would like to have these as a backup to the Fikse/slicks. It would be a shame to never get to try that old 315 on the rears!

The 305s were on only long enough to confirm the rub. Took them right back and switched to the 275s. RA-1s run wide, so I did not feel like I missed much, but my comparison was from 295 Pirelli Rossos to the 275 RA-1s. The difference in compound was enough to make up for any smaller footprint.

Depending on how long I can get my RA-1s from last year to last, I will look for the R888s in OEM sizes to make it to the US or try a set of MPSCs for the first time. Or I will stick with another set of RA-1s.

And call me Chris.

just buy one rear and mount it. if it works then get the 2 fronts and 1 rear.

Pick the right dealer. Mine mounted the tires and swapped them out after I figured out they rubbed, no extra charge and the new tires were cheaper so I got a partial refund. Maybe it helps that the owner (of the multi-store chain) races?

Thanks Chris! That's a good suggestion. I'll talk to my local tire shop and see if they will do that. I have bought enough from them in the last 6 months since moving here (between track tires and nails from the new house contruction) that they would go the extra mile for me--I hope

Anyone have a ball park figure on the per price of the fronts and rears and how they compare to the MPSC and RA-1's? I have a set of MPSC to go through before even thinking about a new set of tires, but it would be nice to know for the future.

Looks like about $225 for the front and $350 for the rear (245/315)
