Default Daytona's coming, are you ready?

Well, Daytona is a little more than 3 weeks away. Are you ready? I've got to order some more Hoosiers and go over the car. And oh yeah, I've got to put in the trans with the stock R&P so I don't run out of revs on the banking.

Yes, I will be ready, flat wing and all.

Hey, is it legal to run without the rear wing?

Still lamenting about camber but other than that the car is ready. I think I have most of the pea gravel cleaned out after RA.

Video would be great if someone has a good source.

Larry, you're prepared. Can't you just turn up the revs?

I'll need at least 160 to keep up with you & the car is geared for about 150 now. Can't turn them up that far. It likes to break rocker arms if you take it over 7K. Cost me the enduro at the Glen.

Do you really think we'll see 160? Top end is what my car does best and at Brainerd where we enter the mile long straight at about 100 mph I only hit 151 mph going into turn one. How long is the banked straight?

FWIW - for fun - I thought I'd share what my data acquisition showed the following on a few of my previous cars at Daytona:

(1) GT2 - 194mph
(2) Lola Can-Am 203mph
(3) Spice GTP 201 mph
(4) Aurora GTS/Trans-AM 191mph

Everybody line up behind Norm for qualifying!

Jim, the PO of my car had run it before at Daytona and said that he was bouncing off of the rev limiter a lot in the banking, so I need the longer gears. I would think that your car would have more speed than 151. I guess that we will find out soon. How was your top end as compared to the Euro cups at Road America?

Larry,

Unfortunately I will not be at Daytona since I will be back overseas then. On the good side, I have been driving the nurburgring on each trip. I am back there for 3 days in a week and half.

I have been running my own little enduros hours at a time.

Have fun at Daytona!

Larry,
At 151 I'm barely into 6th so I have all kinds of gear left and the car is still accelerating although not very fast at that speed. Whatever the top end it should be fun. I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing Norm's speeds.

Like most cars, the euro cup cars pull me coming off the corner but we even out pretty quickly. I think we're pretty close down the straights. It's under braking and in the corners that they beat me up pretty bad. Hmm, maybe they are just better drivers. I never thought of that.

Jim B - Hey at bir I almost get to 5900 going in to 2, but last time at Daytona, I got a fantastic pull from bus stop around turn 4 and on to tri-oval banking, things were exciting in car so I could barley look at the tach, but a quick calculated glance said 6250 ....in 5th. Right after that my right foot told my grey matter to start breaking for the up coming infield left. AND it was none too soon. Wish I was coming Be safe!

In my car 350 rpms in 6th equates to 9 miles an hour. I guess 160 is a possibility. That would have my very optimistic speedometer showing close to 170. Yee ha!

Larry, I'm sure you'll be fine with your lower gears. I would just stay with them.

Jerry, we'll be thinking of you lying around on the beaches of Greece.
Jim
