That must be it. It records great down the pits and then bam, it shuts off as soon as I start taching the motor.

I wonder if there is anyway to change the sensitivity to vibration settings on these things.

You can change the mount assembly to yield a different elasticity. If you soften it somewhat you'll lower the natural frequency. It will still vibrate, but at a lower rpm.

Yeah, that's it. Tune the camera mount for 1,000 rpm and set the idle at 2,000.

Greg since I'm in the rubber business I ought to be able to try this. I don't know how much isolation it needs but will give it a try. I got plenty of rubber.

Wayne - I don't think the DVD style will work on its own for in car recording. Everytime you hit a bump, it will skip. Same thing happens with the Hard disk style camera. if you did a remote camera setup (like the RaceCam system Mike Iapaluccio has), you could put the recorder into a foam padded box/bag and it should work fine. Make sure your camera has A/V IN capabilities.

Defeinitely will happen with hard mounted hard disk cameras....bump = skip, OR shut off. The hard disk cameras do fins in a remote mount bag/box with minimal shock protection and a bullit camera or more.

Hmmm... Sounds like I should stick with my ancient Hi8 Sony then. Not the best image and clunky camera, but no skipping.

Darn! I wanted an excuse for a cool new toy too!

Congratulations and thanks to the Chicago crew for pulling off an excellent event, best race of the year in my opinion. I had a hell of a time learning the track. (thanks for the pointers Jerry!)

What's the rule on track records? Do they only go back to 2004? It's nice having my name on one but a little embarrassing knowing Chris Cervelli ran faster in 2003.

I think the guy that maintains them just takes some time to go thru all the past history.

Thanks. I'll take a quick screen print, frame it and wait for it to disappear.
