Tough job, but someone has to do it. Vintage car race update today at the Nurburgring: Ford dominates it's class(imagine that, cheating with big V8s) in vintage with a GT40, Shelby cobras, and corvette in first four places in their class. Porsche wins in GT class with a 935, rsr, and 4th place rsr, I think a bmw m1 took third. This was all on the F1 track. Nordeshleife was very busy and full of multiple biker accidents.
Oh, witnessed a French driver attempt video taping from his car,,, Nine!! Pulled from the ring and most likely had his camera confiscated.

Closed course, video taping allowed, I have some HD footage from several training laps in good weather. Public laps, Nay!!! Just got off the track, I counted at least 8 997 TTs, maybe 10 new GT3s, new 335's BMW, a car that looked like a Koenig (most likely was). CGTs, on and on....... Oh Ferrari Enzo's (only 2).
Public laping was great, just became too busy and lots of bikes/slow vehicles.
Hanging up the shoes, heading home. Need to move to Europe and find a job here.
Anyone interested in a school next year in conjunction with BMW program?
Thinking of a Porsche group attending with them, which looks doable.

BTW filed for our Group A license while attending the course. The Nurburgring school provides certification for a European racing license. The biggest advantage being more open tracks days including Spa, Hockenheim. Tom had a blast on his first Ring visit. As last year, the parking lot included dozens of the latest GT3's, 997 tt's and other exotics. Someone showed up on Friday with a heavily modified GT2 and made it through 2 turns before plowing into a wall at high speed. Alot of bike wrecks and several school cars went off. Fortunately, drivers/riders seemed to be okay (2 ambulance runs only). I tied for second place in driver points with a 997 and first in group was of course a "997" ( my euro delivered 330i did pretty good). Porsche had a real showing at a BMW driving school event, taking most of the top scores for speed/cornering accuracy. We need 15 cars to form another group for next years event. We are looking into including a trip to Leipzig to visit the Porsche factory and partake in a run on their test track with a test driver.
