Default Are any 993 C2 drivers using Hoosier 245/35-18's?

I have Fikse 8" front rims with a 51mm offset and am having a hard time fitting 245/35 Hoosiers (a 40 series tire is even worse) up front with my 285 rear combo, forcing me to run 225 fronts. I've not had any issues with a MPSC 235/40-18.

Am I the only one who can't run a 245 on a 993 C2?? I'm concerned that if I change the offset of the front rims, I will run into rubbing issues inside the fender liner.

Also, as you can see my car is very low. I'm running 2.2 degrees of negative camber up front.

I sure would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks!

Sorry for the off-topic, but would you PM me or post a larger pic of your avatar? It looks seriously cool.

Thanks,
Bro

Mark, I am about to mount 245/35 and 285/30 Hoosiers on my car in the next couple of weeks for the first time. I'm told not to expect any problems, so I'll let you know what happens. I have been running 235/40 MPSCs or Corsas on the front.

Hi mark

i have used 245/40/18 toyo RA-1 on 8 1/2 front wheel with offset approx
52-55mm with approx 1 deg neg camber lowered with PSS9 on my 95 C2

i had some rubbing over bad bumps only on drivers side. i believe rolling fender would have resolved problem

Mark, running 245s up front with no prob, slight rub upper fender well (and full lock), 52mm offset . 3deg camber, What suspension are you running? The 285's will rub on the oil line on 10's with 65mm offset unless you have installed monoball bushings. I used spacers (5mm) prior and rolled the fenders. I opted to 295s and 2 deg camber to moderate the cording of the inside edge (Hoosier affliction). Will confirm the 295's this weekend for wear/rubbing, but on the lift and jacking full load looks good.

Bro - The avatar has been heavily photoshopped and not very well at that. I'll see if I can post a larger shot, but the resolution may not be that great.

Bob - Thank you. You have a C2S and have wider fenders than me. Keep me posted!

Norm - Thank you, too. I think the Toyos are sized differently than the Hoosiers. Your 8.5" versus my 8" is also a factor, too. Hmmm...

Bob - Are you running Hoosiers? How bad is your rub? I have Moton Clubsports with monoballs front and rear.. My rears are a 63mm offset and I have a bit of oil line rubbing with Hoosier 285's. Thank for your help.

65mm , but with a 5mm spacer I had no problems. running mpsc and hoosiers.
245's make a huge diff in the car turn in. My lap times at Summit moved into contention after just one session on the bigger rubber and a very basic lowered suspension. Can't wait to get back with the proper setup. My target is a high 1:23 to 1:24 range ( need a second).

Thanks, Bob. I have way too much understeer and really want the 245's to work.

Mark, only the rear fenders are wider on the "S" models.

you need more negative camber up front. hoosier recommends a minimum of -2.5degrees of camber otherwise you'll get accelerated outside shoulder wear.

do your motons have a 2 sided strut top, i.e. does it have 6 mounting holes? if it does you can flip the top and get more -ve camber. i did this on my 996 and got -3 degrees. i did, however, have to grind away some of the sheet metal for clearance.

Mark,

I have run the 245/35-18 up front with no problems, but then again I ran 265 Pirelli slicks up front two weeks ago without rubbing. BTW, my front fenders are not rolled.

I though you had massive oversteer? What did you do to get so much understeer?

George

Carlos - I'm going to see if I can dial in more negative camber. Thanks for the tip.

George - Thanks for the info. I couldn't recall if you were running MPSC's or Hoosiers. What's your front offset?

I took care of my high speed oversteer and made the car very forgiving by making a rear bar setting change. However, in some slow speed corners, I feel like I have too much understeer and am wearing out my fronts much faster than the rears.

Mark, I run all kinds of tires. I'm about to try a set of Toyo's just for kicks. It drives my mechanic crazy. Anyway, I was refering to the Hoosiers. I don't think the MPSC come in that size. I actually have the 225/35 and 285/30 Hoosiers on my car right now. I had no problem with the 245/35's with 3 degrees of negative camber.

George, if you go with a set of Toyo's, what size will you be running in the rear? 275/35 or 305/35? I have -2.5 degrees of camber in the back and I am considering the 305.

Charles.
