This has been a useful thread. I just went to lunch and bought a pair of Puma "future cats," the successor to the "speed cats." They had both at the local Puma store, but the offset lacing of the future variety fit my narrow feet better. They seem comfortable to walk in and the soles are pretty thin.

After I'm no longer a newbie I'll have to look into real driving shoes, suit and the like.

do the puma's have an SFI rating?

Is SFI fire resistance? If so, "no." In fact there is a notice that they are not fire resistance whatsoever. For me, that's not an issue since nothing else I wear (including my M2000-rated helmet) is fire resistant.

Sorry Glen, I was not reffering to your post, but the original poster's issue with his shoes been so tight. That is what I find to be wrong as my Sparco's are so comfy. I have not tried Alpinestars and I have not doubts that they should be comfy as all drivers shoes should be...
