Mitch,
That would be a good time, but I imagine the carnage might get out of control. What I saw summer of 03 at Road America was bad enough!

Greg, Here is another issue... do you think carnage comes from the best drivers or those driving over their heads? If you watch the SCCA runoffs, the leaders seldom get in trouble and I've seen a lot more carnage at the regional levels.

I can't say for certain but I bet you are right that most of the damage is from middle of the packers driving over their head.

You got that right. You almost never see the top guys crash. When they do, it tends to be big.

I have seem and heard of several incidents that involve a higher class car (faster on the straights) holding up a lower class car (fast in the corners). Lower class car makes a desperate move that the other guy isn't expecting. I have been fortunate to have good clean races where the other guy gives racing room but races hard.

Actually it wasn't the backmarkers as much as it was the cars just off the pace. Guys who were running in 5th or 6th tangling with the frontrunners in the next lower group.

Manny:
Thank you for reminding me of Greg Merril and Dwayne Moses. Two other guys I know who I try to emulate. Getting within a half second of Greg on the time sheets was one of the big highlights of short club racing experiences.
Larry:
The times between the E and F cars are very close these days. Maybe its because more F car drivers are doing an upgrade or two and taking the bump to E. There are even some of the fast G car drivers (like Dwayne Moses) that are posting times that would be respectable in E or F. If you are thinking about racing your GT3, the guys driving them in B at Summit Point were cracking the 1:22s (in cars with license plates on them!)

Ya know Larry another aspect of this line of thought is which fast driver has the lowest character.
