Default Rear Toe Setting Slipping

The rear toe on my 95 993 will not hold a setting under track use. At the Putnam race I had first place in C and had to give it up when the car went to toe out with about 4 laps to go. Really made for some interesting turn ins. I had the same problem earlier at MidOhio.

In an attempt to solve the problem I have installed all new eccentric bolts in the rear with the exception of the kinematic toe.

Anyone ever have this problem? Thoughts?

I have heard of this problem and it was fixed with new eccentrics. Did this fix your problem?

I don't know if the problem is fixed yet or not. I have not been back to the track with the new bolts. I will have to find some track time before the next race. Maybe NASA on Friday at MidOhio next month.

Thanks for the comment on the bolts.

Alan,
I never had a toe issue with the 993 I ran in C last year. I did have the rear upper and lower control arms replaced with ERP arms and they worked great. Not cheap but it may be an idea. Of course I share because I now run in F!!! I will see you at Putnam in Sept.

I heard that the problem was a lack of driving ability.

I have had similar problems with worn out eccentrics and bolts. I think new ones will fix the problem. How do you tie the car to the trailer? I have also seen rear toe changed by ratcheting the rear wheels down when tied to the trialer. The ratchet straps are strong enough to shift things around. Maybe the trip down loosended up the toe links enough to cause problem?

Hey Cory,
Do those tie down hooks that you install at the rear trailing arm/shock attachment points solve that problem, or is there still some stress on the eccentrics when the hooks are in that location ?

ccup21:
Our tie down hooks completely take the load off the links on the 993 and 996 by attaching to the subframe. On the 964 and earlier cars, it reduces the leverage on the control arms and lowers the stress to a negligible amount that shouldn't cause any toe problems. The front hooks attach to the body.
