My doctor of 25 years cleared me but PCA knows better than him.

I wouldn't worry about the 1/3 of the field that has a cpap, I would worry about the 1/3 that needs one and doesn't have one! Sorry you're dealing with this BS.

Maybe Driver8 who reads Rennlist and occasionally comments can pipe in. He is one of the people that has the ability to put an end to this the right way.
All good points but my case went to the top of the PCA bureaucracy but they would not overrule the doctors simply because they are doctors.

I'm stupid this way. I wish I wasn't.

Appreciate it but they won't listen to reason. I made the point to the medical committee that they are punishing honesty and their actions will cause people to think twice before disclosing.

What are they actually requiring from you?

Can you provide the compliance report from your recalled machine that I’m assuming you have been using until recently?

Do you just need a letter from a physician who treats OSA? (Pulm or ENT)

I wish they had gone about it another way. I really think they botched this. I msorry to hear you going through this.

We’ll miss you at LRP. Hopefully there’s a resolution soon and see you at the next race.

I can provide them with info from my new machine, but I don't think they should be asking for it. They said they will take a letter from my doctor but I made the point that they already have his signature on the medical form. What does another letter accomplish?

Often entities want specific letters stating your in compliance and under treatment etc. Beyond forms. As to why. Who knows. Just like every other field they want to spend the lion share of over head on redundant and useless administrative positions justifying jobs??

Are you sure they didn't confuse your apnea with narcolepsy? /s

From the outside looking in:

Why not just submit as opposed to walking away from something you love?

Yeah, it sucks, and yeah, your honesty may have hurt you here, but are you cutting off your nose to spite your face?

I know you are a man of principal, it's admirable, but maybe just submit, curse a bit here and there, but continue doing what you love?

Just my $.02 as I know how much you love racing with PCA. Maybe just give 'em what they want and keep racing?

Who is really getting hurt by you not Club Racing? It's not the PCA bureaucrats.

Sorry if this post comes across wrong. I know how much you love racing with all the racers here as well as many others in PCA. Why walk away from that? Is standing on principal worth it in this case? Again, talking about this case and this case only.

Sorry if this post irked you. Def not my intent. Me? I would make sure I could continue doing what I love, regardless of principal.

Again, from the outside looking in....

It really sucks when a very small group of people arbitrarily rule on what is and isn't allowed in a huge CLUB with absolutely no common sense or history to support it, doesn't it?

Perfect example of one of the reasons PCA race entries are dropping. Wow.

Unfortunately, you are not the only one who has gone through this exact series of events. PCA has lost a few racers due to this.

If you can resolve this by getting your doctor to send yet another letter then please do it for yourself, and for all of us. You are a big part of this community and events without you are less than events with you. For serious.

Let's give PCA a bit more of a chance to change before it bleeds out.

That was my thought as well. With the level of mental stimulation that comes with racing, it seems crazy to compare with the situation of a long haul truck driver. How about 24 hour endurance racers? How much sleep do they get? I rarely get more than four hours of sleep prior to a track day (I don’t know why), but I’ve never fallen asleep on the track. The boring drive home is the hard part for me…

Unbelievable. The truck driver standard is full on silliness. I hope they don't start checking sleep scores on my Garmin before the race.

The 911Cup crowd is losing one of its finest. No better person to be on track with. And the car is off the charts cool. Perhaps we find another venue that appreciates us.
