SCCA 6/20-21 at Summit Main announced as an addition to the HPDE schedule (replacing an SCCA race weekend), registration will be on MSR when it goes live.

All run groups.

Man, that's another track I miss both as a spectator and a driver. Just too old and lazy to drive that far now

Might have to "discover" PittRace this year--rave reviews now that it's complete and only 3 hrs away.

VIR has been open for private testing first, then enrollment-limited private events, all operated under COVID-19 sanitary and social distancing protocols, for nearly three weeks. So far, so good. First big one will be Chin June 1-2.

Have seen some pretty dumb driving out there, ALL over and at many track events as they re-open, though.

yep
you want to have a heart attack? Come to a SCCA Time Trial. Zero track experience, zero instruction...”have at it and go out and set your fastest time for a trophy”

😱
we’ve been doing a lot of “advising” all weekend..

Default In CA....

Buttonwillow is open, as is Willow Springs and now it looks like Lagina Seca will be open in June. I did a day at Willow Springs this month, as well as a day at Buttonwillow...could have done two (2) at Buttonwillow, but too paranoid to stay in a motel these days. I have thee (3) days scheduled at Laguna Seca this June...that should keep me satiated until September. July and August, too hot for all tracks in CA, except Laguna Seca.

Strange, why should there be an uptick in bad driving? Or were these folks who don't normally come to DEs?

Good question. I’m not referencing what I’ve seen at VIR, but there have been several posts from a variety of recent track events in Canada, California, Georgia and Florida that show car damage or complain about people not following rules or protocols. I think people are bustin’ out, maybe?

I suspect it's a combinatioin of pent up energy. tapping into reservoirs of stupidity and clouded by bad judgment. A good pal of mine, in the process of exiting the track, was in the process of moving off-line to the left side of the track, stuck his fist out the window as we all do signaling an exit, way in advance of his exit, and a Corvette passed him on his left....that's what he told me. That was a near disaster...thanl the gods it didn't happen. He was running in a beginners run group..

I ran in intermediate, very mellow, passing signals were given....so as we know it just takes one Shi@bird to ruin the day.
