July 18-21 @ Laguna Seca at 103db limit with PCA GGR
Anyone planning on heading over to Laguna Seca on July 18-21 for the 103db limit event with PCA Golden Gate Region? Finally, I can drive a car that makes some noise on the track. haha

Going..another plug for Virtual Track Walk
Will run their "Advanced" DE. NOTE: You can only sign up for the DE now. The racing signup starts in June.
Garages? You can sign up for the as an Advanced DE Driver, but priority goes to the racers, this is primarily a racing focused event I have been told.
Accommodations? In the summer they can be brutally expensive. Start the booking process as soon as possible, I am going to do it today.
TIP: Buy and view the Laguna Seca Virtual Track Walk created and narrated Ross Bentley and Peter Schultz. It is less than $50 purchased on-line and worth every penny. I watched it 3X prior to my last trip to Laguna Seca in early March. It allowed me to unravel some areas of the track that had been unclear to me, since my first time here in 1989. In the week prior to Laguna Seca, I'll watch it 3X or >. This track walk instilled greater confidence in me and unraveled some of the mysteries of this track. In my four (4) run sessions, it was a PCACCR one (1) day event), I was rewarded with a 1:46 (Several of them), not that fast, but OK for a 2004 GT3 with stock suspension and gears. I know I am leaving 3 to 4 seconds on the table...be looking for them at this event.
Brakes, everyone knows this, but just in case, you'll need fresh high temp fluid, fresh pads and rotors in excellent shape. Laguna Seca is tough on brakes. I had all of the aforementioned on my car, and had no troubles. Others not as well prepared, cannot say the same.
Lastly, the AiM SOLO 2 was an invaluable aid with it's predictive lapping function. Won't go into detail on this....the info is out there, but it's well worth the $399 purchase price. If you can budget for it, the SmartyCam at about $1,000 would be invaluable. I have looked at my AiM data, it would have been helpful to overlay video. I am going to try and talk wifey into this...."I can always sell it dear, probably recapture most of the investment." This strategy works well in the real world...try and buy any used AiM products and not pay top dollar.
See you there...Carrara White GT3, #10.

Scott, what year is your tub? PCA is looking at the interest in a vintage class for this event My guess is your car is newer than 83. Wierd the a 84 Carrera is not considered vintage. My friend has an 84 that was built as a GT3 car with a 3.4 would be a perfect car to run with yours in "vintage"

"Per today's announcement by Fred Pfeiffer, PCA Vintage Racing Coordinator, all '84 to '89 air cooled Porsches will also be eligible Vintage cars, beginning with the PCA Vintage race at Lime Rock in April."

Yes, the 84-89 G Series 911 has been added to be PCA Group eligible. A great move in my opinion as they are so similar to the 911SC. The 1989 964 is not eligible at this time and won’t be added until the entire 964 series is added at some point in the future (yet to be decided).
