Harbour Freight Generators - Looking for opinions
Really experiences. I am thinking of getting a HF generator. Specifically this one:

I buy a lot of crap at Harbor Freight. I also own four generators of various sizes, including a Honda 2000 inverter that I keep in my trailer.
The only HF generator I own is a tiny 2 cycle generator with one outlet that I bought on sale for $79.
If I am not willing to pay the price, and toss it within a year and still feel good about the purchase, I don't buy it from HF. Personally, I would spend the extra money to go with a name brand.

Spend the extra money and get a Honda generator ... i ran a Mig180 welder for another racer last year at an event with my Honda 3000, was really surprised as the machine didn't even blink !
I highly doubt a cheaper version would have been able to handle that ...

I’ve had a 4000 watt HF generator for a couple of years now. It doesn’t get used often but always starts on the first pull. I used it for a hurricane to run two refrigerators, a deep freezer, and several lights with no problems . I’ve got no complaints.

What will you use it for?
No experience with that particular one, but if you plan to use it in the paddock, please do the rest of us a favor and buy a quiet one... Nothing worse than being paddocked next to "that guy".

I own a Honda, not as bis as the one you are looking at. My Honda is bulletproof and very quiet.........Buy a Honda once, take care of it and it will reward you with fatihfull service for a very long time. If the HF model dies, and you buy a second one, then you are pretty much spending the same money for better (i.e., Honda). If you go Honda, its one and done.........unless you don't take care of it, then it won't really make much difference, I guess.

+1 on Honda.
I have a small Honda Gen now 20 years.
Stable Fuel additive and one or two pulls twice a year and it always starts. 20 years.
If you have two or three already no risk in having a cheapo Gen in the garage. If it doesnt work you have a Honda for a back up!

This. I hate it when someone pulls out a generator that is 4 times louder than anything else in the paddock. Even worse when your in your RV overnight and there is one of those going next door.

I have two of the Honda 2K generators. The beauty is that these are small generators that can be moved around a lot easier than one giant generator. You can pair them together to double the power output, or just use the one you need. I highly recommend this setup, if it's in your budget.

I bought a generic 10,000w generator off amazon 4 years ago. About $1000 delivered. Works flawlessly, on and off, for 4 years. Plus, can power half my house if a storm hits. Wife wanted it for storm protection, so she was happy. But the storm never came... So it's nice to drag around on a 5 acre property for various duty...

You don't have to spend Honda money to get a decent (and quiet) generator. I bought one of these several years ago and could not be more happy with it:

I've had a bioly generator inverter for about 4 years now it runs motorcycle warmers, accessories, and my air conditioner pretty well. They cost less than Honda or yahmaha and are just as quiet. I highly suggest looking into them if your on a budget.
