The repaint has gotta diminish value to some degree. How much is the question. It's a porsche paint color and I'm guessing the work was finished at a high level of workmanship. I'm going to say it lowers the value of the car by $50k?

It's difficult to say, but IMO it would be pretty cool to have the only Rubystone CGT, regardless of whether it's a repaint. However, I would return the wheels to the original silver finish and return any other small details to original, to make it the equivalent of a PTS car that would have left the factory. In that guise, this car would be pretty awesome.

The CGT isn't quite there yet when it comes to repaint not affecting value. I think with the repaint, the car is worth at least 50-100K less than an equivalent example (without repaint) with similar miles. The only example where a repaint is worth more is the one restored by Porsche Classic, but when you factored in the cost associated with the restoration, it might not make any financial sense at this point in time.

I saw the car right after they finished paint...looked really good. That said, I can't see how it brings value.

I'd be very interested to see the quality of the craftsmanship of the color change and the service work completed.

I saw the paint up close when the car in the shop for service. I have to say, the paint quality is good. However, there were a lot of areas where the reinstallation of the panels were "off".

For example, the rear exhaust tip, the inner metal part is protruding past the black tip. So while the paint is good, I have serious reservations about "NON-CGT TRAINED and CERTIFIED" body shop guys trying to put everything back together.

Not surprising! I have also seen official Porsche "Carrera GT Certified" technicians who have trouble aligning Carrera GT body panels and trim properly after completing major service items.

Fast forward to 2:35 and even Tim Allen is very proud to own the Porsche Carrera GT.

Nice find on Tim Allen Car. #0032; I believe it’s still FS. One car I was strongly considering until I got #0911.
