64,000.00 - anyone ticking that box is most likely wearing a 250k watch and their wife has a 70k Birkin Croc bag

Ok, beautiful paint, but will it chip and be ruined by the environment? I would pay that price for it if it didn't.
With my luck a bird will love to take a stab at it as soon as I leave it unattended for a few minutes.
If the 918 will be driven in a bubble, yeah, no problem, but really 65K? That's just a vulgar price tag for paint. Sometimes brilliant people lack common sense.

The liquid metal finish with the aluminum flakes that arrange themselves in a position so that the reflection of light provides that ultra shiny look is not so easy to apply, much less to repaint. I understand Porsche has made a manual for dealers so that they can instruct their trusted paint shops on how to proceed.

No cost option is the chip guard film that helps protect from road scars. At this high cost, maybe wise to forego part of the glow of the liquid metal finish in order to avoid the repaint adventure ...

Is the chip guard applied on all painted surfaces?

The bid from my local shop was 9500.00 for the CGT - removing the old and covering the minimum surface was 3500.00.

$845,000 918- PTS is Free
I was told by Melissa Witek of 'Porsche Exclusive' (and currently the 'acting' 918 relationship manager!) during the 918 Spyder test drive I attended at The Thermal Club /Chino that PTS on the base 918 Spyder (non-WP) is $20K+.

Who told you it was free?

PS I don't believe that PAG sets the pricing of PTS based on 'size'...but we'll debate this another day.

No. The factory film is only applied to small sections on the sides. Better to have aftermarket put on a complete film if that's something one wants.

Of the 10 owners that I contact with, none spec-ed the factory film.

The major trouble spot for the car is the 2 holes out from the front fenders each side and the winglet in the rear for Weissach cars, factory film doesn't cover them at all.

Porsche executive who used to watch the TV show probably got a few kicks out of charging $64,000 for an option.
