The two paint jobs that come in at $64K Porsche better have a damn good explanation for the cost.
Are the using House of Color paint and hand buffing between second coats? Or are they using the super-duper light paint jobs they put on F1 cars.
Any answers, because at that price.it sure aint adding up to me.

Who cares? $64K on a $845K car is chump change. That's less than 8%. Probably the same percentage on a new $140K 991S. It's all relative.

The silver metal liquid chrome color is the same as shown on the 918 RSR and Panamera Sport Concept cars.....I believe it is a 8-10 coat process and looks very glossy with lots of depth in person. I don't know the exact details but I think they are doing multiple processes and buffing etc between coats...

I agree with LexVan, it's all relative. Range Rover Chromaflair is $14,500, Ferrari Tripo Strati is $28,000, $64,000 for special paint on the 918 makes sense. Also consider the additional prep work needed on the carbon fiber panels for it to come out as good as it does.

I wonder if they'll ever come out with another color of this paint process... Maybe a deep, dark metallic graphite+Atlas Grey+Basalt Black+Anthracite Brown Metallic. And only for the 918?
I'm not a buyer of the 918, so this is just for fun... Can't decide if I like the Silver or Blue the best. Haven't seen either in person, but for those that have; does it really look 20 times better (and 20x more expensive) than GT, or Platinum silver? You would think, for the price, the finish would be absolutely flawless, period. Heck, it should be able to deflect bullets for that price.
Image this paint option on a GT3? Suppose you'd never want to hit the track with it though. But if you had the dough, and a lifetime supply a Priemier wrap, why not?
Even if you were trying to restore a rare classic car or custom 1 of a kind street rod; and when it came time for the paint - can't imagine it would run close to 64K...wow.
Wonder how much this paint job weighs? Gotta be a few gallons at least.
Any opinions on what colored rims would go best with the Blue or Silver? Blue w/black rims? Silver w/platinum silver rims?
Nice paint though, from the pics, really nice.

Its a special treated leather . It ages with the car , its meant to offer a contrast between the futuristic design of the car and its mechanicals and a well aged almost old looking interior . I can see the attraction to some maybe but it really is not necessary , the "standard" leather is more than good enough its just a different look .

The liquid metal paint costs a fortune just to buy the source material.

I would hope that if you saw 2 cars sitting side-by-side, 1 painted your choice of a special metallic Porsche Silver & the other painted Liquid Metal Chrome Silver, the latter should just knock one's socks off...
What is it other than many more coats of paint and prep work?
Not sure if Mercedes still offers their "nano" Alumabeam silver - but how is Porsche justified in pricing their paint job 4-5 times as much?
