Yep..but still..very impressive..it seems the "fat pig" was running fo its life

seriously, I never expected that..really impressive. However, I dont see in the video the complete lap from start to finish..or did I do something wrong ?. Anyhow, this is a factory driver..if we keep this 6:57 for the 918 then we also have to keep in mind the 7:14 being mentioned for the GT2RS.

Sport Auto will do the job and give us the real results..

Here's the full lap. Second timer shows 9:34, believe 6:57 is on partially hidden first timer.

I highly doubt that this race version will be available to customers at any price near list ...

So its like setting your fastest lap in a 4.0RS and then claiming that time for a regular GT3.... Nice... Marketing at its best...

I'd give them credit though...
They do mention it's the Weissach package which can be ordered by any customer...

in the video it appeared that Lieb was driving in AUTO mode. I cant see him shift.

Perhaps that model was fitted w/ the new telepathic PDK tranny. Dont ask what this option costs!.

I thought the same. However, he did use the paddles on a couple of occasions.

Even paddles are becoming obsolete.. How many gt3 reviewers talked ab how intuitive the box in automatic was, makin it redundant to shift..

On track, for sure, in most cases. That was true even with old PDK. I know the new PDK-S is greatly improved, but I on the street I'll still be shifting it for myself.

I don't know much about this car. Is the electric motor engaged in race mode? If so, out of juice could explain the drop in speed.

Here's a video clip from Jay Leno driving the 918 in Monterey end of Aug. It's a pretty good discussion and enjoyable video but takes a while to get to the driving part ... sorry if it is a repost.
