This resonates with me more and more every day. And my threshold for how hard I’m willing to drive on street drops more and more every day. I even ultimately sold my 997’s because I noticed they tended to cause me to drive like an idiot to get them into a spot where they really came alive, let alone every thing that has come AFTER them. After chasing after the ever-increasing thrill of shove and performance, I have flipped and now keep going older and slower. The CGT is fun enough (to me) at pretty mundane speeds with only an occasional hooligan stomp of the accelerator pedal that I keep it around in my garage despite it being way to fast for the street. I’ve just spent too much time cringing in my seat knowing I’m going to fast and honestly bored when I’m not. So, give me something new and fast around a circuit and old and slow on the street. And I don’t like much in between these days.

Anything that evokes feelings of passion and exuberance, regardless of what it is...absolutely can elicit such a response from a human body. It's not about "important", it's about how it makes you feel. I think in this case it's more of an artistic thing...probably more akin to a composition or song, which many of these special cars...especially with some of the sounds and vibrations they make are compatible to. In the end, to each their own, and their own passions obviously.

I've never teared up when I've gotten a new car...the closest I came was when I sat in my CGT for the first time...I just sat there for like 45 mins...amazed that I actually now own one...it was a great feeling.

The Singer has been wonderful for me, every time I drive it, it just makes me so happy and I can't wait to drive it again. Not many cars do that.

This is pretty much the feeling I'm talking about...we aren't talking rolling tears, but that kind of utter happiness.

Man, it does get me wondering how Singer can be in financial troubles (obviously unconfirmed), given how much they charge for these cars.

I believe I read somewhere that the total labor cost of a completed car only ends up being in the neighborhood of $100-$150 or so a man hour. Layer in the initial investment of getting the DLS project off the ground and they could be treading water. A simple miscalculation of the deposit ask on the DLS cars could be fatal to a small company already running on thin margins.

Seems a very cold and clinical way to approach life.

I came close when I got my CGT. Wasn’t the car that did it, it was the monumental effort it took to learn my trade which allowed me to earn the money required to buy the thing.

You do you though.

that is what it is about
and with regard to "inanimate" things it is very zen...
what's "inanimate" to one person is not "inanimate" to another.
I often bring strange "inanimate" things into board mtgs. if you don't like it... you are fired.
some "inanimate" things are way more important than "animate" things. and I am not taking about cars.

Its a two way street which gives you the pleasure of doing something when paying someone that chunk of change and exact opposite when someone gives you that chunk of change.

All businesses run into hiccups. What separates well run businesses from others is how they handle problems.

Any updates on how much a Singer would typically cost now and the wait time?
