A bit of an update:

Just been to the LA factory and had a go at the demo car. Great ride and gave me an idea of how the car going to look like.

Engine - Like most of you suggested, definitely a 4.0 with plenum intake.

Suspension - The demo car has Ohlins on it, and the guys at Singer strongly suggest them over the KW. I'm a fan of the ride quality and feedback it provides.

Gearbox - Six-speed

Seats - Had a go at the Track seats, love them, it does have great support overall and getting in and out does not seem too annoying imo.
The Sports seats are great too, but lack some shoulder support.

Colour - Struggling between a Midnight Blue/ Brewster Green Metalic/ Oak Green Metalic.
Comments on this are more than welcome.

The oldest I have is a 993 GT. Nothing older than 1995 I'm afraid.

Don't wait...you're not terribly far off at this point, and there is nothing more special as a drivers car at the end of the day!!!

This has all the best of modern tech with all the visceral feels of the older cars...it will make the 993 seem dated in mechanics (granted the GT is EPIC) and you lose very very little of the raw, old school feel. DOOOOO it!

This is basically the price when you factor in transport, options, and donor car. I'm guessing no one goes in and just asks for a "standard" coupe at $475K

you're looking at 620-700 all in depending for a coupe.
