You can even work with a small SD card, 1 GB or 2 GB. The enabling patch is fairly small.
A large one is required for map updates only (you need to put the map data on or buy it from the dealer)

Allow access with team viewer. USB Ethernet cable. Plug usb into car, Ethernet to computer. SD card into slot in car, then switches back to computer and then back to the car. Goes pretty quick. Cost was 100 euro. So cost will vary due to conversion, but either way this is cheap.
He can also install CarPlay and navigation. My car had no connect or navigation.

Nope, PCM3.1 ist entirely different.
Carplay and AA is one step.
It does not appear to make sense to install navigation into a PCM4 w/o nav as there won't be GPS reception...?! Unless one retrofits the GPS antenna...

It does,since Macan in 90% come with GPS antenna installed.
And GPS antenna if missing is installed in like 15 minutes.
Costs are 20USD.

Contact simaservis1108 via PM (he is 6 hrs ahead of US east coast time but seems to work late). He's very knowledgeable and seems to be a straight shooter. He did my 2018 Macan GTS PCM today - added Porsche native voice control, Android Auto (I already had Car Play) and updated my maps. You do need the JUE130 USB to ethernet adapter and an internet connected laptop with teamviewer loaded on it (free download) . He will walk you through the entire process including doing his wizardry and magic to get you what you want. Warning, the map updates take quite a while both to download to your PC, move to your SD card then upload into the PCM. The upload alone was something like 45 minutes (it's 12+gb of data so you need a 16 gb SD card). Updated maps include Canada, entire US, Mexico, Puerto Rico and USVI. Very cool! Let's face it, Porsche isn't in the business of updating the PCM or offering the option to add features not originally ordered with the car. And dealers are very hit and miss as to whether they even understand what can be done. Suncoast is probably the best at selling upgrade licenses but they're fairly expensive and you have to find a dealer to do the install at (dealer labor rates!). My experience is that the dealers really don't seem interested.

Need CarPlay help with 2017 Macan S
Hi- New to the group as a recent purchaser of a 17 Macan S, great package except no CarPlay or voice control option for the PCM. The car has navigation. Sima, can you help? Do I need to buy and install the voice control Suncoast sells before it gets added?
